| REVIEW | Bought it for my class but can't show it.
I thought about teaching it as a modern interpretation of Othello, but there's this long, uncomfortable, sex scene that turns into a borderline rape scene in the middle of it. I'm sure some think it's profound, but frankly, it's pretty heavy handed. I'm teaching at the college level so *can* show it, but it's uncomfortable enough that I don't. Well performed, but aside from that, it relies on and perpetuates stereotypes of black sexuality, violence, drug use, etc. much more than the original without anywhere near the character development that makes the original interesting. From a pedagogical standpoint, I can use it as an excuse for a discussion on constructions of minoritized identity, which is fine and dandy, but then it's not doing its job as a companion piece for Othello to help them deepen their knowledge, except in the most superficial ways. If I wanted to do that, I could assign the old black-face Orson Wells version. As well, I'd rather just assign some James Baldwin if I wanted to discussconstructions of minoritized identity.
As a film, it's a good way to waste an evening. I'd suggest renting it, though I did buy it because I'm also a Mekhi Phifer fan. His acting in the role is much better than the material he is given. |

Three o'clock High is an entertaining movie along the lines of "Fast Times". It is not as provocative, but still focuses on high school life and ups and downs of each day. It is a very good movie and will become a favorite of many when given the chance. |

| REVIEW | A Mixed Bag
The strength of the film is its technical aspect. For the time, the special effects are quite good. Acting is also strong. I was disappointed in the plot. The script just doesn't accomplish the job. Essentially the theme is "art" (in this case music)is superior to business. All business people are evil and only artists know how to celebrate life. Violence, robbery, and deception of any kind is justified to teach the evil businessman a lesson. That's the subplot that just doesn't hold up.
Jimmy Stewart's character, working with Paulette Goddard's character, "save the day" by staging a lottery, which they have previously discussed was not legal. Here again, there's no logic. They do the very thing the script writers prohibited them from doing. It's a non sequituer. |

| REVIEW | Why Is It Gone?
This was at one time a free download. I downloaded it, but never had the chance to watch it. On the 31st, some weird power failure completely disrupted my computer. The unbox player had to be re-downloaded. None of my films or downloads was marked as downloaded, but they began to come back - over 90% of them. The rest I simply re-purchased on unbox - though I had to buy Borat on DVD. When I tried to either re-buy or re-download this episode, I discovered it listed but not for sale. Why? Can anyone at Amazon answer that question - several other episodes are also unavailable. ???? I cannot even seem to delete the useless episode. Que pasa? I give it 1 star because you can't give something no stars - a rating deserved by lots of stuff. |

| REVIEW | Fabulous first season and going downhill ever since....(spoilers)
This showwas THE BEST it's first season. Season two struggled with every character landing in the infirmary with some end of the world disease. Season 3 finally found it's footing and then heartlessly killed of a main character. They left you hanging there in disbelief and then jumped in with funny little scenes from next week. Cruel and heartless. There were a million better ways to handle the character leaving. After the first season, I wrote letters making sure the show got picked up. Now, I wish they would just bury it and put us all out of our misery. |

| REVIEW | good show
I've only seen a few episodes of this but what I have seen is a good show with drama but also tidbits of comedy and good acting from some of today's finest young actors. I can't wait to see the rest of the episodes with Mischa Barton. I love Rachel Bilson....her character is sooooo cute!!!! |
