Great, but has a lot of bugs.
This is truly the most fun expansion pack that I have bought.

However, issues that I had with Seasons and video card compatibility were not solved with this expansion pack as promised.

So, if you have a new Intel iMac with ATI Radeon HD 2600, do not buy this expansion pack until a patch comes out. Aspyr has been extremely slow in solving these issues and doesn't seem to care a great deal.

The EA game issues have not been solved either, such as the NPC overload issue. However, EA has come out with a PC patch that fixes many of the issues. I'm still waiting on Aspyr to come out with a Mac patch.

Otherwise, this is a fantastic game with great new clothes, objects, neighborhoods and game play. I strongly recommend the Bon Voyage EP to anyone with a Power PC Mac.

Runs Fantastic on 2008 Macbook
It's tricky writing (and reading) reviews for Mac games. If you wantto know if the game's worth playing, there are multitudes of reviews for all the platforms on which it's featured. So far, and I've put maybe 4 hours into the game, it's a solid port. If you want to know if COD 4 is worth playing, there's plenty of evidence out there that yes, yes it is.

If you want to know if you can run the thing, let me just say that if you have one of the new round of Macs, it will run easily and beautifully. I've got the 2.4 ghz model, but according to benchmarks, there's not a huge difference between it and the 2.0 as far as frame rate goes. The install itself is so simple I almost thought they were putting me on. They were not, and I just dragged the folder from the CD onto my hard drive. Twenty minutes or so later I was playing the best-looking game I've ever seen.

Multiplayer works awesome, and the fact that you can play against PC nerds is kind of mind-boggling to me. There are always games. And people are very, very good.

I've been using a Mac for 6 years now, this is my second laptop, and the idea that I can buy a modern game that a lot of folks are still playing and run it so well on such a thin and lovely machine makes me a little giddy inside.

A Very Solid Game!
I bought this last week without doing much research, but knowing that it looked like a fun way for my son try and get some SAT prep under his belt since he isn't really into the "traditional" software or the class instruction. Well..I am pleasently surprised on how great this thing is! he is been goign through this game for the past couple days and really is enjyoing the way the questions and the game is presented. He said, "I don't feel like im just doing prep, but its actually pretty fun". So all and all this was a great purchase! Plus, its been really fun for me and my wife to sit down and actually try to answer the questions and play with the game to see how we would do if we were to sit down and take the test! Not so good! :0 HIGHLY recommend this product and really think you should invest in this title for your kids and for some plain old family fun because its def. a lot of fun and very beneficial!

Neverwinter Nights 2

Neverwinter Nights 2
Price: Check Pricing & Availability
Lowest Price we can find: $40.00

Neverwinter Nights 2 (NWN2) is a computer role-playing game set in the fantasy world of the Forgotten Realms, one of the popular campaign settings of Dungeons and Dragons. It takes the player fromthe tiniest of villages into a sweeping tale of danger and war, chronicling their rise from a peasant to a full-fledged hero of the Realms, defending it against one of the greatest threats of the age. Build a character that suits your style of play - good or evil, chaotic or lawful, with any number of skills, feats and professions available at the click of a button. Whether lobbing fireballs and researching forgotten spells as a powerful Wizard, hacking a trail through legions of orcs as a Fighter armed only with a battle axe and your courage, or taking on the role of a Rogue that can slip into the shadows at a moment's notice, the choice is yours. Choose your alignment, your allies, your companions, and how you want your character to develop... design the character you want, role-play the way you want, and carry the battle to the enemy.
The design aspects of Neverwinter Nights 2 don't stop there, however. Past the campaign included with the game itself, Neverwinter Nights 2 also gives you all the tools you need to build your own modules, campaigns, and adventures for your friends - move buildings, terrain, script encounters, write dialogues, create quests and items -everything you need to create an epic adventure of your own is included in the toolset for you and any other worldbuilder to use. So if you are interested in adventure - or building adventures of your own - look no further. Neverwinter Nights 2 is on the horizon, and adventure awaits.

I can't recommend Neverwinter Nights 2
If Neverwinter Nights 2 came out in the late nineties this would have been a great game. Unfortunately, it came out in '06 which is about 6 years past its prime. This game looks, feels, and plays dated...and I wish I didn't have to say that. The story is laughably bad! Your must keep this unknown silver artifact from falling into the wrong hands...and when you do find out what this artifact is, you're first inclination is to just hand it over. It reminded me of an old Sanford and Son episode, where Lamont brings home a priceless heirloom and ends up realizing he'd been con'd - except without the laughs. So, the story is bad, what about the gameplay?

You have fourteen classes to choose from, but aside from a mage, most are worthless. Why worthless? Because once you reach a certain level (10) your character can't be advanced any further - so pick the one good class and let's move on. So you've created your character and are deciding what skills to allocate your points - it's all Diplomacy, Diplomacy, Diplomacy...maybe Intimidate and Lore. Why spend all your points on thesocial skills? Because your character is the only one who is allowed to talk. So just imagine if you built some powerhouse fighter with low charisma, you're not going to get very far in the game. So as you advance from one ambush to the next ambush, solving puzzles taken straight from Sesame Street, and talking to various NPCs, you'll either raise or lose influence with your other party members - and influence matters in the end.

So they gameplay is subpar and linear with really bad characters, what about the graphics? Like I said in my opening statement, this game would have been impressive in the late nineties and the graphics look like late nineties graphics. Dated, dated, dated. The best part of the game is the individual spells, which really is the only improvement from the first game. But all this talk really takes a back seat because of the horrendous camera angles. If you zoom in to make the game more appealing, your party will be slaughtered because you can't see the enemy from this vantage point; zoom out and you're stuck with block models. The only positive I can say about the graphics is when the game jumps to 3-d. In 3-d the game does a farbetter job than the lame 2-d models.

Overall, I'm afraid I can't recommend Neverwinter Nights 2, and that truly is a shame. This game had a lot of potential, but fails to capitalize on any of it. I do see a promising future for the Neverwinter Nights series.

The Sims 2 (Mac)

Lowest Price we can find: $35.99

Amazon.comThe Sims was one of the most popular games ever made. In it, players micromanage the lives of a family of virtual people, or Sims, and influence their paths toward success or something akin to a nervous breakdown. Itsopen-ended blend of cartoonish behavior and everyday living is unique in an art form otherwise obsessed with carnage and sports. With The Sims 2, longtime fans now have a deeper game with lots of ways to customize and share their experiences. The game will also attract first-timers because the goal-oriented gameplay and the luridly fun starter families make it easier to get into the action right out of the box.

Now Sims are born with the traits of their parents, families grow, and Sims grow old.

The People in Your Neighborhood
The game starts at the neighborhood level. Here you can create a housing development from scratch or start with one of three premade neighborhoods, each with its own theme. From there, you'll settle on a house and a family of Sims to control.

The Sims 2 body shop
Create your own Sim (above) or your own house (below) from scratch with advanced tools.
The Sims 2 house-building tools
Aside from the basic needs carried over from the previous game, Sims now have aspirations, wants, and fears. The wants and fears are the day-to-day things that occupy their minds, like wanting to see friends or get married and fearing death or being rejected for a kiss. Satisfy their wants, and they become more efficient at completing tasks you assign them. Realize their fears, and Sims become lethargic, cranky, and unresponsive to your commands. Aspirations are the big-picture things, like raising a family, becoming wealthy, and gaining knowledge. Succeed here and you'll be able to buy odd gifts for your Sim to improve his or her life, like a money tree that pays dividends or a "fountain of youth" water cooler.

What Else Is New?
Of course, you wouldn't be able to juggle all that if it weren't for the improved "Free Will" option, which makes it easier for Sims to fulfill their basic needs. The artificial intelligence of the game is noticeably improved; they won't turn on radios just as a family member is going to bedbut, strangely, they do occasionally put their dishes on the floor.

Another big change in the series is the concept of the lifespan. Now Sims are born with the traits of their parents, families grow, and Sims grow old. Not only does this go hand in hand with aspirations (growing up is the first aspiration that a baby Sim will have), it provides a limited time with which your Sims can achieve their goals.

Sims in live mode
The Universal Control Panel helps you manage your Sim family.
A Family Affair
The Sims 2 not only lets you create just about any type of Sim in any type of family, build elaborate houses, and even create a neighborhood from scratch, but it also allows you to start the game in medias res, with premade households. These families all have backstories that are smart spoofs of soap-opera plots--lots of scheming, romance, ghosts, and family fighting. Parents of teens shouldn't worry, though, because nudity is tastefully blurred out and "woo-hoo" between Sims takes place completely under the covers. The ESRB has given this a Teen rating. If The Sims 2 were a film, it would likely land between PG and PG-13.

The makers have included some nice tools to help share the universe you've created. For example, you can capture in-game stills and video to show friends the private moments, family interactions, and house parties of your Sims. You can even package a household to share as a blog or an album on a special Web site.

The Sims 2 is for patient gamers. Like life itself, the game is filled with mundane details, like getting ready for work and doing dishes. The game also demands a level of creativity from its players that the run-and-gun game genres wouldn't know what to do with. But those who stick with it will be rewarded with an absorbing, amusing diversion and a virtual family history that they've created themselves. --Porter B. Hall

Awesome!
I recently bought a macbook, so none of my old sims disks would work on my mac. I couldn't stand not playing the game, because it's the greatest game of all time...so I had to at least order the first disk of the sims 2 for the mac platform.

I received the item promptly and undamaged. A+ service!

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic takes you into the distant past of the Star Wars universe -- over 4,000 years before Episode I, when battles raged between the Jedi and the Sith!

Don't waste your money if you have an Intel-based Mac!!
I purchased KOTOR as the first game to go along with my new Intel-based iMac. However, neither the product packaging, the Aspyr website, or any other site selling this game mentioned that it is functionally incompatible with an Intel-based processor. As a result, it will lock up, suffer major graphics and gameplay issues, and be completely unplayable. When contacted, Aspyr (the game maker) said that they were aware of the problem but would not provide any support, despite the fact that their own website has no mention of this incompatibility.

It's too bad. It looked like a great game. Unfortunately, it's a complete waste of money for anyone with a new Mac.

Disappointed
Was impossible to load missions on Call of Duty (original) after #1, and the United Offensive disc had several bugs in it. Fun to play when it worked, but the bugs greatly limited the experience.

It's your neighborhood, they're your Sims, and whether they prosper or perish is completely up to you! With The Sims - Unleashed you'll add a furry friend to your Sims family. Housebreak your pets, train them to do tricks, buy them toys, and do your best to keep them from destroying the house! The Sims - Superstar lets you experience the lifestyles of the rich and famous and guide your Sims to superstardom. Become a movie star, rocker, or supermodel and spend your cash on extravagant new items for your home. In The Sims - Makin' Magic you'll cast spells, hypnotize friends, and even turn a neighbor into a frog. But watch out, spells can go haywire if you're not careful. The neighborhood will never be the same!

Amazing!
This is by far the most exciting game I have ever played. Although some of the new additions like superstar town and magic town can be a little confusing if you're used to plain-old sims, all the new choices are so great. I've been having a blast with it and the only downside is that I can't seem to stop!
