not complete alright first off all these bands are good and this cd is good for someone who wants a lot of classic rock songs but on the otherhand stay away from this one okay for one thing it shoulda been 3 cds because this is not comeplete alright where the hell is BOSTONS MORE THAN A FEELING and its missing so many bands that ruled the air waves in the 70s kiss, pink floyd etc. okay why the hell is ROCK AND ROLL ALL NITE NOT ON HERE THATS BS and another thing why is kiss dissed so much all the time anyways this is a very cheesy album and its not even complete i say stay away from most of these albums and just download the songs off amazon for only 89 cents,
ROCK WILL NEVER DIE
Album DescriptionClassic Rock is eternal and it is now! The 2008 Now Classic Rock features 20 of the best Classic cuts of the century. From Queen to Heart, from Boston to Kansas, from Kiss to Cheap Trick, the greats of rock bounce through this CD digging way back with 'Fire' from the Jimi Hendrix Experience to 'My Generation' with the Who. An album so valuable you'll need several copies for the future ones which will go missing and borrowed!
REVIEW
Now That's NOT REALLY What I Call Classic Rock! This is a bit of a sad collection with the most predictable choice of tracks. Anyone who likes this genre will already have all these songs so won't need to buy it.
I suppose if you are completely new to Classic Rock then this selection might be adequate but the project could really have done with being expanded to a two disc set (at least) todo itself justice.
Do the people who put these things together only have limited rights to the vast library of music out there? The same old songs always do the rounds. The only suprise here is that they chose "Surrender" by Cheap Trick and not the usual "I Want You To Want Me". Now that's really what I call living dangerously!
Sounds like a good idea for another collection.
**** 4 star product upgrade
WRITTEN LATER AS AN UPDATE: With time for reflection I am now man enough to admit that I regret some of my comments regarding this album in my previous review. Perhaps I was being a little selfish as a long time fan of the classic rock genre. Perhaps my expectations were a little high and I was hoping for something a little deeper for "the man who has it all".
Now: Classic Rock, the compilation, contains some of the most essential songs you will need to hear if you are just starting out on this musical journey and has been well put together as a programme - all the tracks follow on well and it is quite an impressive listen.
However, don't stop at just these songs as you really need to dig further. Kansas (who are featured here) are definitely worth investigating as are Deep Purple, in all their reincarnations. Heart are fantastic and no collection is complete without their albums "Dreamboat Annie" and "Little Queen". Cheap Trick are a little eclectic but have thrown up many a good tune in their time. I would particularly recommend their "In Color" album.
David Bowie is essential too up to "Station To Station". After that I don't really think he fits into the more widely accepted term of "classic rock" although his music always has its unexpected highlights even now.
There are many shameful ommissions on this compilation though. No Nazareth? Unheard of! And where are Sweet? A track from "Sweet Fanny Adams" or "Give Us A Wink" would not have gone amiss. Jethro Tull, Budgie ... I won't write a list but that is why I previously said that one disc was just not enough.
So to conclude then, Now Classic Rock is a pretty good introduction to the best kind of music ever produced. Not suprising, most of it came from the Seventies. I herewith upgrade my rating to 4 stars.
Too Scattershot To Be Truly Representative By calling this a "Classic Rock Party" one must interpret "rock" rather loosely. This collection includes pop ("Joy to the World"), folk-rock ("Sister Golden Hair"), and even a novelty song (the yodelling "Hocus Pocus") in addition to classic 70's rock--all of these songs were releasedbetween 1970 and 1978.
Rhino's other releases in their Millenium series usually focused on a specific genre. When you're doing a hip-hop, funk or doo wop collection, you can do an adequate job even though you may be covering a decade of music. When your category is as broad as classic rock (whatever that means), your song selection doesn't hold together very well.
These were all popular songs and all of them reached the Top 40, except "Aqualung," which was never released as a single. And why wasn't "Eighteen" or "School's Out" used in place of Alice Cooper's "No More Mr. Nice Guy"? As for some of the other song selections, Rhino appears to have simply decided to save some money on licensing fees by recycling songs from its Top Rock Hits series.
Overall, this is a very listenable collection with terrific sound and informative liner notes. But unless you specifically looking for some of these songs, why not simply tune in to your local classic rock radio station?
:) good times great music! The VW only has a tape player so we have been tryin to get a bunch of awesome tapes (much cheaper and more durable than cds!) Thanks so much :)

A great classic rock CD If you love classic rock, you'll never want to be without this CD. I've bought this CD more times than I can count for friends, family, etc. - as soon as they hear it they love it. It's great for driving or getting pumped up. Definitely one of the best Classic Rock CDs with the top songs from the 70s.
As Seen on TV! In the early '70s, everyone was mellowing out to soft rock music. Singer-songwriters, acoustic guitars, and sun-soaked melodies took over the airwaves and the sound of soft rock was born. Get 168 original soft rock hits on 11 CDs.
