Amazon.comSquint at the cover of Circus and it's easy tomistake Britney Spears for the flow-haired Jessica Simpson--an indication that the bold come-ons of 2007's Blackout, a commercial success but a critical letdown, may have given way to something softer and prettier. Don’t be fooled. Circus differs from Blackout in a number of ways, the most important being that 1) it keeps its ringmasters--i.e., its producers--in check instead of allowing them to run an overly sleek show, and 2) Brit brings it vocally here in a way she hasn’t since 2003’s In the Zone (check "Kill the Lights," on which she channels her mentor Madonna and the liquid-y "Blur"). Beyond that, Circus is, as its title promises, a Blackout-like spectacle. Which is not to say the songs being made under this particular big top aren't top quality. Those who pine for the pre-trainwreck Britney will warm to the suggestive but not outright slutty "Mmm Papi," and anyone who can't get enough of the embattled publicity magnet will eat up "Womanizer" and the title track. Spears--let's be honest--lacks acrobatic grace, at least under tabloid scrutiny. What's great about Circus is it proves she's still willing to jump through hoops to make likable, stylish music. --Tammy La Gorce

The Circus Is Back In Town
Say what you will about Britney Spears' career and personality but you must admit that she makes catchy music. Circus does not disappoint. The album moves smoothly from pop dance numbers (Womanizer,Shattered Glass,If You Seek Amy, MMM Papi) to soulful ballads (Out from Under,My Baby). This is easily Ms.Spears best record in more than a few years and with the public spectacle that her recent lfe has become she really deserves the good press that will be generated by this record.

The Deluxe Edition features a bonus disc that contains a 10 minute making of the Circus album featuring interview segments about working with various producers and the importance of dance in her life. Also included is the director's cut of the video Womanizer and a very short photo gallery.

This album is worth checking out.

Amazon.comShe may be bald, and her parenting skills may be more backwoods than the celebrity-obsessed would prefer, but when it comes to her profession (singing pop songs, for those who have forgotten) you've got to give Brit a break. Not because her previous records have been flawless--for all its first-listen appeal, Oops! I Did It Again will drive even the most tolerant pop fiend bats after two repeats, and it's hard for long-term fans to overlook the unfortunate "I Love Rock N Roll" off 2001's Britney--but because, despite all the personal tumult, she's feeling the music like never before. Blackout is not a brilliant record for its vocals, though they're good in the cooing, sex-kittenish way we've come to expect (check first single "Gimme More," a monstrously catchy dance-pop number, for the requisite moans and sighs). But it is brilliant. And though the Neptunes, Bloodshy & Avant, and Nate "Danja" Hills do their trippy, thumpy, raved-up thing successfully enough to make you think so, the brilliance isn't in the production only. The crackling "Radar" gets under your skin not just because of its club-ready beat, a familiar element on this disc, but also from Britney's deliberate vocal haze; here she is interpreting how she ought to sound against the heat of this track, and pretty skillfully--she goes for pure vibe, and she gets it. And while the words to the seemingly autobiographical "Piece of Me" are enough to pull you in themselves--here we get to hear Britney refer to herself as "Miss Bad Media Karma"--they get a little something extra from our girl's newly awakened sense of what makes a song flow; she has the good sense to squeal. Is she a credible role model? Certainly not. Is her music worth hitting, as the old song goes, one more time? Absolutely. --Tammy La Gorce

over done
I would say this album was way over produced, I would rather hear the real Britney. Her sound is a whole lot better

Amazon.comIn the six years since her debut CD ...Baby One More Time set Billboard charts a-trembling, Britney Spears has pried open pop music's rusty cage and sprinkled her sex-kittenish fairy dust around like long-overdue disinfectant. She has also arguably done more for the neglected navel than Jennifer Lopez and Beyoncé have done for the derrière. But despite her well-earned reputation for boldness (to which releasing a greatest-hits package after just four discs can only add), Britney calls it quits at making claims about her vocal talent. And that works in her favor. Because while My Prerogative is an exciting and even at times superb record, its merits lie almost exclusively in each track's production. From the Abba-esque choruses of her earliest hits ("...Baby One More Time," "Crazy") to the twitching, pulsed-up grooves of 2001's "I'm a Slave 4 U" to the technified bleeps and swizzles of 2003's self-skewering "Outrageous," the pop princess proves she's been largely content to let her in-studio performances take a back seat to the rhythm. With beats as consistently good as the ones she's managed to recruit, though, it's hard to blame her. "Toxic" and "Me Against the Music" mash trance and hip-hop into the mix, and the three previously unreleased joints don't shrink from sliding headfirst into new sound, either. The Bobby Brown cover and title track stomps and bomps to a bared-teeth backdrop, and "Do Somethin'" creates such dancefloor urgency it should come with a siren. "I've Just Begun (Having My Fun)" treads two steps shy of crossing the Britney-bred boundary between sexy and raunchy, but fans will hope it's autobiographical anyway. For detractors the song--and the disc as a whole--should signal a long wait till the party's over. --Tammy La Gorce

Please don't compare this to Madonna!
Please! Don't ever compare Britney to Madonna! She will never ever be half of what Madonna was... This is called a Greatest Hits album! And this is when I wonder... which hits?. She has only had 3 top ten hits so far... Most of the songs in this album didn't even make it into the top 20.

Now I guess you call a song a hit once it is either popular or has a deep impact on music!. But which song had such impact? Only hit me baby one more time.

If you call her sexy you should really define sexy, she has had an attractive image, which by the way has been the exact same image for almost a decade! Except for her bold days andwigs nowadays!

But she has always repeated the exact same formula trying to spice things up a little... But failing completely.

If you are a Britney fan this is for you, if you are not be cautious, don't buy this unless you enjoy at least 4 songs or more, otherwise this record will end up in some dusty box the day after you open it...

I enjoyed Britney's first two records, but I was 12 years old!!!!! Now I just play one or two of her songs once in a while, but the rest are lame.

She's the Lame Madonna of our decade, or a Lucky Cyndi Lauper of the new millenium, that if you take all the great ballads away from Cyndi, or if you take away all the brains and balls from Madonna's music.

BRITNEY IS LAME!

A Little Confusing, But... (A Guide To Using This DVD)
This DVD can be a little hard to use, especially trying to find the alternate versions of the videos. Here is how, what they are called, and how they differ. Once the DVD gets to the main menu, choose "Alt. View." The screen changes and here you access the different videos. Below is the listing and what they are:

*My Prerogative (Dimentional Edit){a.k.a. Digital View} = the beginning has some additional footage of people at the party. In the video, there are 2 different "clips" you can watch. One clip is some additional black and white footage of her on the bed. The second "clip" is photos of her and other guests at the party. Also look for the astronaut from the "Oops!...I Did It Again" video. Access these features by pressing Enter on your remote when the word ENTER appears on your tv screen.

*Outrageous (Takes) = Unused footage from the "Outrageous" video. Her most infamous video due to the fact that it was never completed. Shortly after the shoot began, Britney injured her knee. After she healed, it was never finished. And yes, that IS Snoop Dogg. And NO, that is NOT Britney at the end.

*Everytime (Angle Two) = When this video starts, LET IT PLAY. Hitting ENTER will only let you see how the video originally aired. This version is footage of outtakes, false starts, etc. The majority of it is Britney standing in front of us, singing.

*Toxic (Karaoke) = Take a guess what this is, lol. It is the video with the words on the screen. Sort of. It is a version of the "Toxic" video never seen. It is mainly Britney dancing around with those diamonds glued onto her body. Also, the singing has been totally removed, so it is just the music. I must say it is VERY COOL to see this version. She looks so good with the fan blowing her hair all over as she dances. You can hit ENTER on your remote during the video to turn the singing on if youlike, hit ENTER again to turn it back off. WARNING: turning the singing on and off causes the video to start back at the beginning. I recommend watching it twice, once with the singing off, then again with the singing on. Also, some of the words are mis-spelled. "Your" is used when "you're" is the correct version.

*I'm A Slave For You (Uncut) {a.k.a. Accapella} = More bonus footage not used in the original version. On the plus side, it means more male nipples. Hitting ENTER shows you even more bonus footage. I suggest watching it twice. The first time, let it play. The second time, hit ENTER on your remote. I had a hard time using this video, especially when I hit the ANGLE button on my remote, took me to all kinds of weird shots. I eventually got irritated with all the bonus footage and stopped trying to find it all in this video.

*Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know (DLMBTLTK Outtakes) = Not sure what this was. It appeared to be outtakes set to a remix/instrumental version of the song. Also mixed in are clips of other videos. THE MOST BIZARRE version of one of her videos yet. Also very short, less than 2 minutes long.

*Stronger (Outtakes) = You guessed it... A neat little surprise it the home video footage of Britney when she was younger mixed in. It is also like a remix of 'Stronger.' Also less than 2 minutes long.

*Oops!...I Did It Again (Uncuts) = The original video with the begging trip to space removed. Instead, the whole video is Britney in front of us, singing and dancing in that red outfit. At the end, hit ENTER to see more outtakes. Britney does some funny stuff on the outtakes. It ends abruptly.

*You Drive Me Crazy (Mix) = Not sure how to explain this version. I guess it is the same video playing at different times on the same screen?? Also includes outtakes. LESS THAN ONE MINUTE LONG!!

*...Baby, One More Time (Uncut) = Hitting ENTER when the word ENTER is on the screen takes you to the alternate version. Nothing special, just some outtakes. And we see that that really IS Britney doing a back-flip.

OVERALL = Disappointed with this DVD, it sounds much better than it really is. The menus are hard to use, and the box makes it sound like there are hours of bonus footage. That is a lie. The alternate versions of the videos are much shorter. I could have arranged this DVD in an easy-to-use format. All this bonus footage to the videos could have been done in a better way.

In The Zone

Lowest Price we can find: $13.24

Amazon.comHowever coy she might be in her public statements, Britney Spears leans more than a bit toward the provocative on In the Zone. Less concerned with aiming at the mainstream radio dial than in the first days of her career, she and her collaborators make this as street and club ready a record as possible. The opening duet with Madonna, "Me Against the Music," is worthy, but the bigger superstar’s presence serves almost less as a performance than a key to Britney’s intentions: as Madonna did on albums such as Erotica , Ray of Light, and Music, she’s out to bend current trends to her needs. R. Kelly, Moby, and Ying Yang Twins all provide stirring moments that draw on everything from Bollywood to Southern hip-hop, while one of the most impressive tracks, "Touch of My Hand," joins the proud tradition of Cyndi Lauper’s "She Bop." She still lacks a fully formed artistic vision of her own, but Zone, with its many get-free anthems, puts her much closer. --Rickey Wright

Don't Read This Review
"In the Zone" is Britney Spears at her absolute finest and without a doubt, toxic is the greatest single ever to grace the airwaves. No one is too cool, too old, too hot, too young, too smart, too dumb, too skanky, too prudish, too gullible, or too lame to listen to this mainstream masterpiece. People who give one-star reviews and say turn off the radio and listen to "good music" are pretentious fools who want to inflict their cynical beliefs onto everyone else because they are depressed from listening to Elliot Smith and Wilco. I'm In the Zone - Are you?

Britney Spears - Live from Las Vegas

Lowest Price we can find: $11.69

Amazon.comWith a November 2001 Las Vegas performance that became an HBO special, Britney Spears headlines a visual spectacle that surpasses even Vegas's stage shows. From the opening "Oops! I Did It Again" to the closing "I'm a Slave 4 U," Spears and her dance troupe athletically romp through a live, life-size, 90-minute music video. There's no musical emphasis (usually the original recordings play while Spears nominally pays attention to what she's supposed to be singing), but that's not the point.

Soft-spoken offstage, Spears becomes someone else entirely in front of an audience: numerous costume changes, a plethora of filmed footage, awesome acrobatics, and a gigantic stage set create the ultimate triumph of visuals over music. During the encore, "Baby One More Time," rain drenches Spears, giving a born entertainer one final opportunity to leave her fans awestruck. The concert was broadcast live to four military bases, and Spears acknowledges the soldiers' service in the wake of the September 11 terrorist attacks. --Kevin Filipski

Very Good Concert!
This DVD is actually pretty good. It has the links to either watch the full show or to watch each performance separately.

Britney Spears gives a really good show in this HBO live from Las Vegas presentation. Her songs are very catchy and the cameras are very good on following her and catching good close ups to Britney and her dancers.

This DVD has a really cool beginning, as well as a fun little band video. Britney and her team really ran the extra mile with this concert as it's really entertaining. It has really good choreographed dances, as well as special effects, and lots of costume changes. Also you get to see at least one Elvis there in the mix.

While the show starts with fire explosions and very high teck looking. It ends really cool with rain and a very nice sensual "baby one more time" that I kind of like better than the original one.

It's a fun concert, didn't find any mistakes on this one, defiantly one of Britney's greatest concerts or her time.

Amazon.comDebbie Gibson never recorded anything as sexy as Britney Spears's white-funk smoker "...Baby One More Time." Unfortunately, neither does the 17-year-old Spears's debut album contain anything else that remotely approaches that instant hit single. A few of the disc's cuts are pleasantly catchy, but too much of its space is given over to icky ballads ("E-Mail My Heart"?) and other unconvincing moves such as the dancehall-lite "Soda Pop." --Rickey Wright

GREATEST LOVE/POP ALBUM EVER!
From the git-go, "...Baby One More Time" Britney's voice is showcased, like no other singer, with a sexy, luscious, funk/soul intonation, inflection, and power to its sweet and innocent multi-dimensional-bang-on-target sensibility depth! A catchy assortment of pop gems heartsung. Raggae-flavored "Soda Pop" is enticing. "E-mail My Heart" (long before the present texting craze) is a modern twist on heartbreak.Just listen to Brit's plaintive voice on "I Will Be There." Just listen to her singing on "From The Bottom Of My Broken Heart." Just listen to her edgy mid-tempo "Sometimes." "You Drive Me Crazy" is enough to do just that...that is, in a sexy turn-on way. "Born To Make You Happy" sounds so right-on romanticist. Brit makes "Thinkin' About You" believable as every true lover needs to hear. "I Will Still Love You" and "The Beat Goes On" are perfectly, meaningfully sung and felt. 'Nuff said, so just listen to(and hear) Britney's splendiferous singing...a Perfect, Meaningful, and (no question about it)Impactful album inthe history of Music , Dancing, and Singing!...and MUSICAL POETRY IN MOTION...believe you me, I unabashadly state I know of what I speak.

Amazon.comYes, she did. Even if the title track's chorus is a blatant rip-off of the Barbra Streisand/Barry Gibb duet, "Woman in Love," it's still darn catchy--much more than anything from 1999's ...Baby One More Time (save the album's fab title tune, of course). With the rest of the 12 songs here, the teen queen pretty much delivers a remake of her last album. Songs like "What U See (Is What U Get)" and "Stronger" show Swedish songwriter-producer Max Martin in his element, churning out another and yet another slick smash with staccato synth beats and heavily overproduced melodies. But even at his strongest points, he can't bury Britney's voice far enough below the virtual guitars--and it's obvious this girl ain't no Celine. Except for the horrendous ballads, however, that doesn't make a stitch of a difference. The pop songs have all the qualities of memorable tunes--the choruses are clear and catchy, the beats are bouncy enough to make you shake your bonbon, and the singer is about as randy for love as Austin Powers is for a shag. Edit out the low-water mark--when Britney mutilates the Rolling Stones' misogynist anthem, "Satisfaction," by oversexualizing it with inserted "uh"s ("I can't get no, uh, satisfaction")--and you've got a hit-packed album that's as guilty a pleasure as reruns of Beverly Hills 90210. --Heidi Sherman

Great Sophomore Album!
Britney Spears second release, "Oops!...I Did It Again" struck accord with the year 2000 generation and will go down in history to be a classic album. 'Oops!' is full of catchy pop tunes about love, loss, fun, and for really the first time Spear's take on modern life (as witnessed in the tracks '(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction' and 'Lucky.)

1. Oops!...I Did It Again - This was the leading single and by far one of the best songs on this album. The song has one of the most successful 'stuck in your head' choruses of all time as well as a modern beat and hip lyrics that all teens (even adults) can relate to.

2. Stronger - Another hit single about a cheating partner and the singer's ability to move on because she is 'stronger than yesterday'.

3. Don't Go Knockin' On My Door - A catchy tune warning an ex to not come around anymore.

4. (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction - A remake of the classic Rolling Stones tune, with a few tweaks to make it a female version. Spears sings about the pressure from the world to try and create people into what they aren't for the sake of being popular.

5. Don't Let Me Be The Last To Know - The final single from 'Oops!' tells a lover to be open and communicate their love for the singer instead of telling others how they feel.

6. What U See (Is What U Get) - A great tune about not letting your boyfriend/girlfriend control you and the way you live. Very catchy and fun to move along to!

7. Lucky - Very successful single. 'Lucky' is about a Hollywood starlet who has everything but love. A song that deals with the false belief that money and fame bring happiness.

8. One Kiss From You - A tween love song about a special someone giving strength and hope with one kiss.

9. Where Are You Know - A song about longing, wanting, and moving on after a relationship ends.

10. Can't Make You Love Me - A rocky tune about how you can never make another person love you no matter how hard you try.

11. When Your Eyes Say It - A ballad about how a lover's eyes express their love and devotion more than words.

12. Dear Diary - A very simple tune about a girl's crush and hope to be forever with that 'boy'.

"Oops!...I Did It Again" is a great CD for adults and teens to enjoy together or apart. Britney Spears really showed her musical ability on this release.

Album DescriptionAustralian enhanced CD pressing of the first single lifted from the Pop diva's 2008 album Circus. 'Womanizer' was produced by the Atlanta production team The Outsyders. Features five versions of 'Womanizer': Main Version, Instrumental, Junior Vasquez Remix, Kaskade Remix and Enhanced Video. Sony/BMG.

Womanizer
Womanizer is Britney Spears' newest single from her upcoming sixth studio album, "Circus".

It should be noted that this single is not "groundbreaking". For that matter, Most pop singles are not. The biggest changes on Womanizer, are a faster pace, and a vocal line without HUGE manipulation It's catchy, sing-songy, and has your trademark ooh and ahh in the right places. Being that this is a dance track, there has to be a tiny level of throwaway quality to it. Hence, the monotone vocal says that a bit.

It's an intermediate level pop single with just enough buzz to get the masses talking. I think it accomplishes that goal all too easily. And the re-mixers will eat this song alive.
