DescriptionPBS rocks the house with SUPERSTARS of '70s SOUL, the first installment from the new live concert series My Music. Hosted by the original "Lady Marmalade" herself, Ms. Patti LaBelle, this show is a crash course in Groove 101, with booty-quaking lessons from the masters, including the incomparable Commodores ("Brick House"), Earl Young’s Trammps ("Disco Inferno") and Joni & Debbie Sledge of Sister Sledge ("We Are Family"). Then slow it down, dim the lights and learn about love from "You Are Everything" by The Stylistics--and from Eugene Record, who reunites with The Chi-Lites for "Have You Seen Her" and "Oh Girl."

Album DescriptionThe enduring effect of ’70s soul and R&B continues to influence new artists today. Simply tune in to the latest TV talent search to hear newcomers belting out these classics. But who can top the magic of the original artists? That’s what PBS had in mind with Superstars of Seventies Soul—Live. This TV special has become one of the most successful pledge events for PBS in recent years. It was recorded in December 2003 in Atlantic City, and this soundtrack features the funkiest, smoothest, downright sexiest songs of the era, including 16 Top 10 hits.

Features 16 Top 10 hits from an incredible line-up of R&B icons, including #1 charters by Patti LaBelle "Lady Marmalade," Emotions "Best Of My Love," The Chi-Lites "Oh Girl," and Yvonne Elliman "If I Can’t Have You."

Great Live Soul
This is a great live Soul CD. The song selection is very good and the sound quality is top notch. Beware though that there are only 15 tracks not the 16 listed on the Amazon track listing. What's up with that? Missing is You make me feel brand new by the Stylistics. Made me mad so I gave it a 4 instead of a 5.
