| REVIEW | Cruise & Neil Jordan create an unforgettable interview When it was reported in the media that Tom Cruise was to play the lead part of Lestat, the legendary vampire, in Anne Rice's "Interview with the Vampire", the author herself was dead set against casting the famous movie star as her lead character. However after seeing the completed version of the film, Rice revised her opinion of Cruise and pronounced the performance "brilliant". This role, keep in mind, was passed over originally by Daniel Day Lewis and Jeremy Irons and in retrospect, they would've been too old to play the ever youthful Lestat so I think Cruise was an excellent choice. Also excellent are Brad Pitt as the doomed Louis and a very young Kirsten Dunst as the little girl who never ages. Neil Jordan, coming off his recent hit, "The Crying Game", also delivered with an involving psychological horror film of the first caliber. I am now renting this film in Blu-ray and will comment on its quality which is in debate by some of the customers here. Nevertheless, Blu-ray or standard, this is a film worth seeing if you're a fan of the book or an Anne Rice. I think Cruise is an under-rated actor who has also given brilliant performances in "Born on the 4th of July" and "Magnolia" but because of his good looks is often ignored (The Cary Grant fate!!) as Michael Caine has stated in an interview. Let's hope he doesn't do too many action films and goes for the jugular in his future films!! |

| REVIEW | Amazon disappoints me for the first time I never thought Amazon would let me down like this. I am a huge Amazon customer. My purchases go all the way back to the beginning of Amazon. I have spent thousands of dollars on Amazon. I am also a huge Mac fan and user. Amazon is preventing me from using my iTunes, my computer, my Apple TV and my iPod for playback of The Office Season 4.Unbox is so antiquated compared to the elegant method I was allowed to use for the other three seasons. Please reconsider and get together with NBC, will you? |

| REVIEW | I didn't see Dances with Wolves... So I won't make comparisons with that movie. I thought this is a well-done film. Sympathetic, and respectful of our culture. Thank you Hollywood and Zwick and Logan from a 'nihonjin.' I thought Cruise did a great job. I didn't see any of the reckless grinning that he known for, and he did a great portrayal of a disillusioned but fierce and loyal soldier. And this was exactly how many of the samurai felt in that era. This was a great fantasy film about a time of great change in Japan. You have to remember this is a fairy tale, but the Meiji Restoration was a turning point in Japan's history that I am happy that Americans can be better aquainted with. And the love scenes were well crafted, no obligatory sex scene (thats absolutely impossible for a gaijin and nihonjin in that time period!!!) It was a stretch to see Cruise handle a katana so well, and I was prepared to laugh going into the movie, but the story really turned me around, it was so well done that it felt natural. |

| REVIEW | I loved it... Speed.
2.
Sandra.
Bullock.
Amazing.
These words are basically perfect for describing this film. I have heard so many people give this movie crap, and I don't appreciate that! Really, I don't see what the fuss is about! If you wanted a movie that was better than the first Speed, then you shouldn't have seen this in the first place! Of course it's not going to live up to the first Speed! You just have to acknowledge that, and after that... it's time to move on and enjoy Speed 2 for what it really is: an adrenaline racing, heart pumping, suspenseful movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat! Just because a movie doesn't add up to its predecessor, does NOT make it a bad movie! Although Jason Patric doesn't have as much depth as I thought Keanu Reeves had, he still played the part pretty well... and as always, Sandra Bullock was phenomenal!
Basically, what I'm trying to say is... cut the crap about this movie not living up to Speed 1. Of course it isn't going too! After you have accepted that and moved on... then you can pop in Speed 2 and enjoy it for what it is and not for what it isn't! It isn't a movie that lives up to the predeccesor. It is a movie that is pretty dang good, with great acting and some amazing action scenes!
Accept that or don't see the movie. Plain and simple. |

| REVIEW | Good movie I like this movie! Born on the Fourth of July was written in Santa Monica, California during the fall of 1974 in exactly one month, three weeks and two days. It tells the story of Kovic's life growing up in Massapequa, New York, joining the Marines going to Vietnam, getting shot, finding himself wheelchair bound, and eventually starting a new life as an anti-war activist. |

| REVIEW | Scooby Doo is awesome! It was fun to watch the first episode of Scooby Doo (High Rise Hair Raiser) on my computer as a download with my kids. We go back and watch it from time to time. I am glad that Amazon gave me this free download, so that I could try this feature. |

| REVIEW | If you didn't like it the first time, see it again, your opinion might change This is truly a movie that you don't forget after it has finished. It gets in your head and stays there which is one of the reason that so many people admire the film eventhough it had its fair share of detractors when it first came out.
Eyes Wide Shut is one of my favorite films and is one of the few films that I can watch over and over again and still find it fresh and exciting.
Visually, it is one of the most beautiful films you will ever. Kubrick's technical brilliance with color schemes, sets and camera work is in full effect here. Much of this film looks like a beautiful old photograph or a painting rather than a film.
Some people don't like the film because of the slow pacing. Personally, I prefer films which build a dreamlike state in which tension is increased steadily throughout but that is my preference. If you don't have an affinity for these types of movies then you might have been turned off by the intentially slow pace of the film, a pace which is reflected not only in how the film is shot but how the characters speak their lines.
Eyes Wide Shut is a great film that becomes richer and more enveloping with each viewing. It requires patience, demands attention, and allows one to think about its characters and the subtle nuances in their dialogue exchanges in the context of its theme about the possibility of marital infidelity in a fragile marriage. Some have seen it once and hated it only to gradually admire it on second viewing. Do yourself a favor: in this mindless time of mediocre films, check out Kubrick's last film "Eyes Wide Shut." If you hated it or disliked it the first time, you may find yourself at least admiring, on second viewing, the world Kubrick has created on screen and how he fashions this world before our eyes, as he has with all of his films. Keep those eyes wide open.
