REVIEW
Two out of three ain't bad... Both "IL2 Sturmovik" and "Pacific Fighters" work fine on my laptop (Gateway, Core 2 with 2GB memory), but "Lock On" refuses to display the screen correctly while attempting to play the game [intro, setup, and other screens work fine]! I haven't pursued support, yet, so I don't know the ultimate outcome of the problem.
Yes, both IL2 and PF have a strong learning curve. But, as you become more proficient, the games become more enjoyable. I wouldn't expect to climb into a real fighter aircraft and become an ace on day one, why would anyone expect a realistic simulator to be any different???
Graphics, controls and aircraft behavior are awesome. I've quickly learned how to: stall (and I'm learning how to correctly recover), crash during takeoff, blackout in hard turns, get shot to shreds, fail to bailout before impact, and otherwise tear myaircraft apart like an expert. I now have one kill to my credit, and I expect to be an ace in just a couple more months!
It might be easier if I had the actual aircraft, but I can't afford the maintenance!
Amazon.com VIP Classic Wings: The Ultimate Collection, from PC Aviator, gives you over 220 (220 varieties of 15 different aircraft) of your favorite aircraft--aircraft that have gone down in the history books as "classics"--meticulously designed and decked out in your favorite colors.

Solid and Fun... Classic Wings is a fun and challenging simulation. Good on the flight model and even better on its graphics. It takes you into the cockpit of almost every variant of 15 of the finest aircraft ever manufactored. 200 plus planes and thousands of hours to fly them... what more could you ask for?
IL-2 Sturmovik: 1946 collects all the previously released Sturmovik titles and add-ons, plus three additional expansion packs. This flight sim now boasts over 300 controllable aircraft as well as additional campaigns and online maps. Historical planes include the Heinkel He-L-IIIB-2 Lerche, a Luftwaffe creation that never actually made it off the ground. Gamers may also journey through an alternative timeline and assist in the assassination of Hitler. Exotic aircraft and locations -- fly Soviet mixed-power fighters against new ground targets like trenches and bunkers Comes with exclusive bonus content - Special making of video, screenshots and videos of the upcoming Storm of War - Battle of Britain Detailed plane guide -- over 450 pages covering each of the 229 flyable aircraft

IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 Great game....My husband had asked for MS Flight Simulator X for his birthday but I came across this instead. He really likes how it is still a flight simulator game but it has the added bonus of being able to dog fight, go on missions, and numerous other features. The graphics are alot better as well. Overall we are very pleased with it and would recommend it as a better alternative to FS X.
