Album DescriptionThe first release on Double Blind Music, {un}known Vol. 1, offers up music from rock/hardcore veterans such as Dead Poetic, Project 86, Hopesfall and Halifax alongside up-and-coming bands like 32 Leaves, Opus Ddi and Tripside. The known and the unknown are brought together in a frenzy of emo, screamo, hardcore and punk. Laden with rare and previously unreleased tracks, {un}known Vol. 1 is a must have. The 14 songs on the album are sonically diverse, but collectively reflect the embodiment of current hardcore and modern rock.
REVIEW
A few highlights, but mostly filler... He Is Legend boasts 'The Seduction' and a couple of other bands make a couple of decent attempts at rock/metal. It's mostly just worth the buy to get the Revolution Smile rarity not found on any other album. The song has a not so great production value compared to Above The Noise, which is sad really because it's a good song. Anyways, like I said, alot of filler, but if you're into nu-metal (and not very good nu-metal) which seems to have died out in the last few years, this may be your thing. 3 stars for He Is Legend, Revolution Smile, 32 Leaves.
Holy hell. Unknown Hinson is hilarious. This guy was suggested by someone who tends to listen to good music so I gave it a shot, but I was loaned a different Unknown album... this one was supposed to be better so I got it and it's true, it is better.... Target Practice is good, but this one is funnier. It plays between Hank III and Those Poor Bastards on my iPod...

REVIEW
a known pleasure a superb re-mastering or rendition of this remarkable record that never tires even after repeated play.
Defective So I read online complaints about this Rhino 180 gram vinyl record being defective. I thought it was just some unlucky buyer until I bought two brand new copies of this LP (from two different sellers) and they were BOTH DEFECTIVE and in the same way: there was a dent across the vinyl from the record press. When you play the record, you hear a tearing noise every 4 seconds or so. I tried to contact Rhino about it but they never replied to my e-mail or my phone calls. I've heard that not all copies are damaged; maybe you'll get lucky.
about as scary as it is funny Saw a blib about Unknown in Biker Magazine, the in your face sister publication to Easyrider. They reported that Unknown practically threatened them to plug his CD in the mag. It was in a section usually reserved for new motorcycle products. Their description of the ...man...was about as colorful as his own, so i searched him out and thought I would start with his first offering "Rock N Roll Is Straight From Hell". The country ballads are traditional enough that if your grandmother was half listening and didn't notice the lyrics and maybe even if she did...no offense to anyone's grandma...but she might think its some honky tonker from her boot scootin days. The RAWK on the other hand is tough and swampy. Some cool crunchy rythyms and guitar lead fills and solo rambling worthy of ZZ-Top on drugs yet the voice and lyrics is Earnest T. Bass all the way. I especially liked the live performances and his verbal thrashing between selections. I would buy this CD again and look forward to seeing Unknown Hinson live.
Most Known Unknown is a good re-release. Three 6 Mafia Most Known Unknown is a good re-release, I Did like their music video yesterday and it was cool, there are more songs on this album then anything else, although there are so flaws, but the rest is different, this group is certainly much better then Dem Franchize boyz and other junk.
What a debut should be This is the debut for the Unknown Prophets. And it strongly competes with the other Minneapolis based Hip Hop groups like Atmosphere, Brother Ali, Eyedea and Abilities, and Oddjobs. I would have to say that out of all of the formentioned groups World Premier is the best debut album. The thing that you first notice about the UP's that sets them apart is thire rhyme topics. Their songs are positive and constructive yet still true quality Hip Hop. Track #4 The Wrong Route is a perfect example. It basically talks about two kids who made the wrong choices in there life and everything ends up falling apart. "he went from ripped jeans to mad cream, traded all his nightmares for the pleasent dreams". Track #13 4 The Kids talks about how we need to be wise about how we act and influence children. Then theres the last song on the CD Track #17 Never ft. Slug. The song talks about how the Up's might never make it big but its ok because they are doing something they love and they are giving it there all; and you can really feel it. Nothing on this CD sounds contrived or fake. This is what sets them apart from any other group I have ever heard. Be aware, their style is not similar to Atmosphere or Brother Ali so if you are expecting that you might be dissapointed. If you can approach this CD knowing that then you will love it.
Shades of Grey This is an album that displays emtion in each of itssong. Unlike many of todays artist who pose for certain look or stlye, Joy Division were about channeling their emotions through their music. Unknown Pleasures, a landmark album the world was not ready for its time of release and yet still an album that sounds fresh and not dated. From the opening track Disorder to the track I Rememeber Nothing, the album is a sonic venture unlike the world has seen. She's Lost Control alone a track that makes you feel like you are on the edge of losing control. Seeing footage of Ian Curtis perform SLC is simply shocking. As the beat of the Stephen Morris drums fuel the gyrations of what seems to be an Ian Curtis in a state of epilepsy, one can wonder how Ian didnt lose control there and then. Whereas the power of Shadowplay can be summoned up in one lyric "In the Shadowplay acting out your own death.." Unknown Pleasures offers us a view into Joy Divisions world. A dystopia in shades of grey.
