Amazon.comFable 2 is the anticipated sequel to the popular original that sold more than 3 million copies. Created by famed game designer Peter Molyneux, Fable 2 for Xbox 360 features an epic story that picks up 500 years after the first game. It offers an open world environment giving players a massive amount of freedom to explore and play as they please, with every decision made contributing to the game itself.

Every Choice Has Its Consequences
Fable 2 provides players with a truly immersive experience where a virtually limitless number of choices can be made, all of which have their own consequences, making each game unique. When you start the game, you choose either to play the role of a boy or girl, and depending on your choices, the hero will grow up to be tall or short, good or evil. Players can get married and have children; female player characters will become pregnant, which will then be reflected by their physical appearance.

Early in the game, players are presented with a stray dog for a best friend, who will need to be fed and loved, and will accompany the player throughout his or her life. Depending on theplayer, the dog will change appearance and assist him or her in various ways, such as alerting of impending dangers and attacking enemies.

Players inhabit the world of Albion and are free to roam the land to as they please. Players can use different expressions to communicate with others, such as taunting and laughing, and even belching or farting.

As the players grow, so does Albion, reflecting the choices that were made earlier in the game. Every house, hut, castle, and dungeon can be purchased if the player wishes. Players can buy up all the land in a town and can become mayor, king, and even emperor of the entire land.

Fable 2 presents a dynamic and free-roaming world that doesn't demand a player to take any one set path. At the same time, players seeking a plot line will find an epic story and quest that they can follow if they wish, along with many side adventures.

Fight Using Different Weapons and Magic
Fable 2 introduces a new combat system that allows for mastery of hand weapons, such as swords, long range weapons such as cross-bows and guns, and, of course, magic. Players improve at each discipline with time, and can combine different combat styles when they fight. Other advanced design features include tactical positional advantages that can bring new strategic elements into combat.

Bring Other Players into Your World
Fable 2 has a multiplayer mode that allows you to bring other players into your own world. Consistent with the rest of the game, the actions of these other players can be permanent and affect your world. You can explore and fight together with these other players, share treasures, and even fight each other.

Note: Fable 2 will not ship with Online Co-op mode. An update with this functionality is rumored to be released shortly after the launch of the game.

Xbox LIVE Arcade Mini-Games
Gamers can play minigames through Xbox LIVE Arcade and earn currency that can be used in Fable 2 to purchase weapons, armor, and other items for the hero.

Fable 2 is rated M for having mature content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older.

Depending on your choices, the protagonist can turn out wildly different -- male, female, good, evil, and more.

Fable2
The game includes a dog this time around which is a huge plus for the player's experience. This is a very solid action RPG game which is well worth buying. It does do a lot of things well but like all games it has many faults. For instance a big let down is that you can not actually bring your character into your friend's game while playing co-op via xbox live. You can only choose a good, neutral or evil character and then choose the sex and weapon combo that they will use while you join a friend's game. Also the camera is fixed while playing co-op which can feel restricting after playing solo and getting used to moving the camera for a while. The game also can feel repetitive with some of the quests and tasks but overall these elements only hurt the game they do not by any means break it. I was a huge fan of the first game and I was glad to see the sequel although I must say I do notbelieve that it lived up to its full potential. I would still highly recommend buying this game. It is a great game for casual players who like action adventure games.

Interesting title from the makers of black and white
Originally bought this game for a class, but I was immediately engrossed in the game-play and logged 15+ hours on it. It features a simple enough third person interface and is really quite enjoyable to play.
Combat gets a tad repetitive sometimes and the choices that you are able to make are over-hyped, as your alignment can be readily changed and there are no serious game-play differences between the two extremes.
The story is compelling and has its twists and turns, and the dialogue often contain hilarious innuendos and jokes.
Its a shame that you cannot customize your hero's physical features and replaying the game a second time to try alternative choices actually turns out to be extremely dull as not much of the storyline changes.

Overall its a great game to play through the first time.

Huge Environments, Bigger Gameplay
For those who loved Gears of War, Gears of War 2 builds upon it in every way, but with several major enhancements. There are more weapons, bigger vehicles, andmore action. The enemies are more dangerous, and the total experiences is more immersive than ever. And with a revolutionary tactical combat system, the game will require not just fast reaction times and shooting skill, it will also challenge you to devise a strategy that will work against the enemies who exhibit smart AI.

Jaw-Dropping, Realistic Graphics
Just as Gears of War did the first time around, Gears of War 2 ups the ante for graphical prowess. Combined with the sweeping vistas and evocative locales of Sera, where the story takes place, Gears of War 2 offers jaw-dropping graphics that are made possible through advances in Unreal Engine 3. New visual effects include ambient occlusion, dynamic shadows, improved character lighting, the ability to render hundreds of on-screen characters simultaneously, improved water physics, additional blood and bullet decals, advanced destructible environments, new weather effects, and the introduction of fluid objects.

Immersive, Gripping Story
Taking place six months after the end of the first game, Gears of War 2 returns the cast of characters of the original, including Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago, as well as several newcomers.

Novelist and comic book writer Joshua Ortega, who assisted with the writing, has created a story that is big on character development and personality. With a new in-game conversational camera system and multiple story arcs, the story is presented in a gripping cinematic style where characters gain an emotional depth that matches their realistic graphical representation.

More Characters, Upgraded Vehicles, Badder Weapons
Those who were impressed by the original Gears of War will be in for a real treat. New characters such as Tai Kaliso, weapons like the burst pistol, and huge vehicles like the COG Centaur tank will give players a whole new dimension and scope of gameplay in both single-player and multi-player modes.

Multiplayer Action with Xbox LIVE!
Gears of War 2 features a multiplayer mode that allows up to 10 simultaneous players for outstanding multiplayer fun. Taking full advantage of the Xbox LIVE service, which boasts 10 million gamers, Gears of War 2 features both competitive and cooperative multiplayer gameplay. Setting up games is simple with LIVE, and you have the ability to drop in and out of co-operative campaigns at any time.

Everything you loved about multiplayer in the original is back, including the classic death matches, but with this sequel there is an added emphasis on teamwork. New multiplayer game modes will require better coordination in order to win. The game also features voice support, so you can communicate with other players around the world -- whether you're on the same team or trash talking!

Gears of War 2 won several awards at E3 2008, where it was first presented, including Overall Best Shooting Game and Overall Best Graphics Technology of E3 2008 from IGN, as well as Best Action Game of E3 2008 from the Game Critics Awards.

Gears of War 2
Gears 2is one of the most fun games I have ever played for the Xbox 360 it has everything you need to sit back and rev up the lancer and kill the some locust. The weapons are more powerful, the graphics have deeper environments and more color. The online play still doesn't impress me because it lags and it takes to long to kill someone but this game is worth every nickel and dime because this game has more to offer then any game I have played.

In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.

As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force by taking full advantage of newly developed technologies that will be seen and experienced for the first time: Digital Molecular Matter (DMM), by Pixelux Entertainment, and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. Paired with the powerful Havok Physics™ system, these new technologies create gameplay only possible on the new generation of consoles. DMM incorporates the physical properties of anything in the environment so that everything reacts exactly like it should - wood breaks like wood, glass shatters like glass, plants on the planet Felucia bend like plants on the planet Felucia would, and more. Meanwhile, as a revolutionary behavioral-simulation engine, euphoria enables interactive characters to move, act and even think like actual human beings, adapting their behavior on the fly and resulting in a different payoff every single time.

Game Features:

  • During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
  • Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos.
  • Examples of unleashing the Force in ways never thought possible:
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls.
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
  • In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader.
  • Visit locations such as Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility.
  • The Force Unleashed is LucasArts' first internally developed title for next-generation consoles, and it represents the first in-game collaboration of talents and technology between LucasArts and Industrial Light & Magic, two companies now finally under one roof at the new Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Francisco's Presidio district.
  • The Force Unleashed debuts Digital Molecular Matter from Pixelux and euphoria behavioral simulation from NaturalMotion Ltd.
  • LucasArts is preparing an unprecedented promotional effort around the launch of The Force Unleashed, encompassing a full line of toys and game-based action figures from Hasbro, as well as a full publishing program from Dark Horse, Del Rey and Palace Press.

Meet theCast
The Star Wars Saga will continue in 2008 with LucasArts' biggest-ever video game event. Set during the "dark times" between Episodes III and IV, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed portrays the previously untold story of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice -- and now you can put a face to that mysterious character as well as the major supporting cast members as LucasArts unveils the actors set to star in The Force Unleashed.

The Cast of The Force Unleashed

The New Technology of The Force Unleashed
With The Force Unleashed, LucasArts not only introduces a new chapter in the Star Wars saga, but also two completely new and innovative technologies -- Digital Molecular Matter by Pixelux Entertainment and euphoria by NaturalMotion Ltd. These groundbreaking technologies combine with Havoc physics to create true next-gen gameplay and the Force like it's never been seen or experienced before.

Could've been great, but missed the mark
Unfortunately, incredible graphics, awesome powers, and an innovative approach to combat can't ultimately save this game, as glaring shortcomings in gameplay and concept make themselves obvious too often. Whether the good outweighs the bad depends on your tolerance level, I suppose. I find myself tossing down my controller and turning off my console in frustration far too often.

Your super powers are indeed awesome (when they work), and you'd be hard pressed to find a game that offers more fighting combinations, powers, and ways of dispatching your enemies. But there's an inconsistency to every aspect of the fighting. For instance, you can lift huge nearby objects with your force power and hurl them at opponents, but because of difficulty with targeting and controlling the trajectory of the objects, this becomes an exercise in frustration. Also, the effectiveness of your lightsaber attacks against all too many enemies is nearly nill. This forces you to rely on the same kinds of cheap tactics that actually do work, which of course drains the fun out of the game, and removes the element of creativity and variety.

I wish the developers had gone the extra mile and fixed those aspects the game needed to be absolutely legendary and out of this world fun.

Final analysis, rent, don't buy this game.

Call of Duty 3.5
I have to admit I was quite disapointed with this release. I had been deciding between purchasing this or Left 4 Dead and ultimately went with Left 4 Dead. I decided to rent this title the other night to see if I made the correct decision. Good thing I did.
I've always been a big fan of the Call of Duty series but this one was no where near the bar set by Call of Duty 4. First of all, I beat the campaign in around 3-4 hours and was quite confused when the credits started to roll. There was no significant ending to the American campaign whatsoever.
Overall, the levels are far too linear. However, sometimes you do get to choose between two or so paths to your objective. One very frustrating thing I found was getting over obstacles. For example, in Call of Duty 4 virtually all obstacles could be climbed over/up on but in this one you find yourself constantly getting stuck behind things as only a very very small percentage of obstacles can be climbed so in many cases you have no idea where to go until you can find your linear path to continue on.
No missions in this game significantly stand out(My personal favorite was a Russian Sniper one and probably the only one I'd have a desire to play again). Many of them are just frustrating and not in a good way. I found majority of the places you seek cover from enemy fire are of no help at all as you will always be constantly shot from somewhere no matter where you are hiding. (You can lay down in front of cover and still be shot from straight ahead)
Your team A.I. is on par with the mentally disabled and do not help other than providing meat shields for you and the occasional team kill to get more ammo.
On the other hand the graphics are great. A lot of work was put into the scenery but not into the gameplay. Majority of the levels are excellently designed but the gameplay inside those levels is weak at best.
In conclusion, Call of Duty World at War is a step down in all aspects from Call of Duty 4. My rating has nothing to do with a WWII vs. Modern shooter. I enjoy any FPS genre and I just believe WaW was more concerned with everything going on around the player and not the player themselves.
