REVIEWPunishment for being ahead?
After playing countless hours of this for a couple months, I can only conclude this is one of the worst games I've ever played.

It's not because of graphics. It's not because of controls. It's because the game stops being fun when you realize two things:

1 - Winning is almost pure luck. You have to get at least one "good" item(star, bullet, giant) during most online races to have a chance. I've been in many races where it takes much more, because I've been bombarded constantly by people with stars and bullets. And God forbid you miss a cube entirely.

2 - The really sad thing about this game is the notion that it must "punish" you for being ahead of everyone else. It's no coincidence that 9 out of 10 races in which I am in first place for a length of time, I get hit with the dreaded blue shell. Even worse than that, races are usually so close that once you're hit by something, everyone else piles into you and next thing you know you've gone from first to near last in an instant.

This game at first glance seems like a lot of fun. And for the first few weeks, it is. Then it becomes a frustrating uphill battle against luck and Nintendo's idea that no one should really be better than anyone else. If someone is, we have to knock him down to make it fair.

I worked hard to get over 7000, and I'm proud of that, but it quit being fun a long time ago. I'm tired of battling luck with skill, when luck wins out almost every time.

REVIEWThe Best System
I say that cuz its the most innovative and to some extent, the most fun.
You cant play multiplayer with the same way as the Wii. Making it a party favorite.
The Wii takes gaming to the next level with the infamous Wiimotes. Its amazingly fun and everyone will want to play.
I say that this is my favorite system and the best system overall. Xbox360 has the slightly better graphics, PS3 has the overall better games, Wii has the fun and different factor of playing with a whole bunch of friends.
Wii wins.

Also includes a two-player mode where Mario and Luigi race and compete for coins.

REVIEWGood Mario Fun; but a too easy.
First let me explain that this isn't a remake of the original Super Mario Bros. Instead, it's atry into revitalizing the once great Super Mario Bros. series. This game is influenced by Super Mario Bros. with the each stage's gameplay and finish pole. It's influenced by Super Mario Bros. 3 with it's map layout of each world, along with it's toad houses and hammer dudes walking around. It's influenced by Super Mario World with some stage's backgrounds and gameplay elements including the climbing on the fences.

The graphics for this game are very nice. All the characters are rendered in 3d as well as some of the backgrounds. They blend nicely together. No complaints. Mario and Luigi look different from each other this time around. Just as they should.

I didn't pay too much attention to sound, but one thing that did annoy me was what Mario said after finishing each level. Well.. what is sounded like he said was, "Thank you so nice!" which is irritating to hear so many times. The english is so bad, that it's unbearable.

Now onto the lackluster part. The gameplay. The game is easy. Not only that, but they provide you with a crap load of power ups beyond the ones in the stages, making it even easier. If that weren't enough, they also keep 2 out of the 8 worlds as an unlockable secret. But wait, if you're lucky enough, you might also accidentally discover a way to only do 3 worlds before getting to world 8. So, chop the game in less than half and that's it's length. And you're done. It's way too easy and it seems like they don't even want you to play through the game. And then on top of that, there's a lackluster ending. Is there any motivation to complete the other worlds? No! The levels aren't even challenging. I had 50 lives after 3 worlds. Nintendo knows how non-challenging the game is.That's why you can't save when you want, just every time you complete a castle or spend star-coins. And that's annoying. So much for a pick up and play game.

To "spice" things up, each stage has 3 stars-coins to collect, some of which require some thinking, but most are easy. And what do they do, give you powerups to make the game even easier. You don't have to collect the stars, it's pointless. You could collect them only for collecting's sake. There are also red coins to collect. They give you powerups as well for collecting them within the given time limit. It can't get any easier.

This game features 3 power ups not included in any other mario game. First you can grow to super size. They give you this way too often and what does this do, it gives you up to 5 lives, the amount depending on how much destruction you cause. Save those for levels filled with bricks it's easy lives. The 2 other power-ups are worthless. One that makes you really tiny, useless against enemies makes this one just for finding secrets. The problem is that they almost never give this power-up to you in the level where the secrets are at. So you'll have to go find one where there is and play that level to get it. This becomes quickly annoying. The other powerup gives you a turtle shell so you can slide like a turtleshell against enemies. Since the flower is much easier to play with, this powerup goes to help acquire secrets in stages that, also don't provide the powerup. Fetch it boy. This one's rare. Super annoying.

The castle boss battles are also easy. If you get to the boss with fire powerup, which is super easy to do, since you can always carry a spare poweup with you, that you can't lose by dying, and call upon it whenever you need it, the boss becomes very little of a challenge. Even the final boss battle at the end of the game was easy. Sometimes all you need is super mario so that you don't die crossing the bridge to the other side to drop the bridge.

The mini games are recycled from Super Mario 64 DS and so is the multiplayer from every other mario game. So this should last you a bit (sarcasm). Great extras Nintendo! (more sarcasm). It would have been nice if you included the original super mario bros as a nice extra. But what am I thinking, that would've been a good idea.

VERDICT
This game is Disappointing. It's short and easy. It seemed nice in the first world, until it got too repetitive and easy. If you want to play a Mario game better than this, go play super mario advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3. The game looks, feels, sounds, and breathes like a super mario game. In fact, the game is fun to play, but its flaws are too much for me and that's why I wouldn't buy it. Otherwise it would be a great game. You know it's easier to find the secret to skipping the game than it is to find the secret to unlock the hidden 1/4. Doesn't that suck.

REVIEWGreat fun -- even for a Geezer!
Even though I am a member of AARP, I still love this game!! The controls are easy to master. One important point left out by some reviewers -- you don't need the stylus to play the game, just the buttons. This means it can be great fun in tight airplane seats on bumpy flights where stylus use can be troublesome. Lastly, the difficulty levels are just about right -- as you improve the challenges increase to match.

REVIEWA very fun baseball game, just not that deep.
I am having a great time playing this game. To the people complaining about the controls, use a nunchuk. It gives you more control. I really wouldn't want to stand up and swing for 9 innings. I like the motion controls they way they are. They work well. The fielding is great. The base running is intuitive.

Most importantly the baseball itself is really fun and well done. The characters are great, the items are cool and the start powers are fun. I like the close-play cut screens.

The story mode is thrown in for fun. It lets you get to know and unlock all of the characters/players. The real fun is exhibition. No season mode ... no online play. Could have benefited from both in my opinion. That is the only reason for this game not to have 5 stars imo.

REVIEWCan be fun, but could have been so much more.
It has a lot of fun events, although the interaction is a little sloppy as compared to Wii Sports. Also, it's difficult for lefty's to play as although you can play left...the characters still show right which can be confusing depending on the game.

Otherwise, the game really is dependent on theuser learning sometime ultra complex control sequences (buttons, nunchuck movements, etc...) to perform what should be easy tasks. ...think 'Finishing Moves' from Mortal Combat.

All in all...fun, but not sure if how long I'll keep. ..oh, and be careful not to sprain your wrists when you're trying to run.....timing doesn't have anything to do with the speed...just how fast you can alternate your two hands going up and down.

You'd think years of defeat would get to a guy, but Bowser just doesn't give up! He's captured Mario and his friends in hispursuit of a crystal that the group collected when it fell from the sky, and he doesn't hesitate to shrink them to miniature size to get rid of them and get his hands on the other four crystals. The mini-heroes have to find the crystals before he does, making their way through giant environments filled with enormous creatures. The single-player campaign takes place in five different settings, each of them ending with a boss. As usual, players have to collect coins and stars, at the same time escaping dangers such as Piranha Plants and other classic creatures from the Mario universe. As they progress through the game, players also can unlock various mini-games, such as Rail Riders, Sweet Sleuth and Goomba Wrangler! When players are tired of exploring the story mode, they can choose one of the other modes, like Puzzle and Minigame. Play with up to four friends on the DS' local Wi-Fi and let the party begin!
