Naruto Uncut Boxed Set, Volume 1
Price: Check Pricing & Availability
Lowest Price we can find: $49.99

Amazon.comAlthough some otaku (hardcore fans) have complained about the editing of the English dub of the popular ninja fantasy-adventure Naruto, the Uncut Box Set reveals the edits were quite minor. There's a little more blood in some of the fight scenes, and the opening and closing titles are the Japanese originals. In episode 3, Naruto's stomach problems are presented more vividly, and Kakashi delivers a more explicit jab to Naruto's butt in episode 4. More revealing differences turn up in the subtitles: In the English dub, Naruto declares he wants to become a great ninja so the whole village "will start treating me like somebody important"; in the original, it's "will acknowledge my existence." The three-disc Uncut Box, which includes the bound storyboards for Episode 8 (in Japanese), is a good buy. The first 13 episodes include Naruto's graduation from the Ninja Academy and his assignment to a team with Sakura (on whom he nurtures a crush) and Sasuke, his arch-rival. The reluctant trio begins to learn how to work as a team on their first mission under the supervision of Kakashi. The exotic jutsu (ninja techniques), stylized fights and slapstick comedy will keep any Naruto fan happy. (Unrated, suitable for ages 12 and older: violence, tobacco use, risqué and toilet humor) --Charles Solomon

Really only a "must-get" if you're a die-hard Naruto fan
This is a three-discset that contains the first thirteen episodes of Naruto and a few extras. This set includes both the Japanese and English language tracks (and English subtitles for the Japanese language track).

The extras aren't overly impressive. There's eight pages of "Production Art" (model sketches of some of the Naruto characters). There's a feature labeled as, "From Sketch to Screen Episode 1"; this includes eight pages of storyboards, and for each storyboard, you can see the clip that the storyboard is for. The English credits are included as an extra, but there's no background music, so this is a rather uninteresting thing to view.

There is a sneak preview of the second Naruto box set, but this preview feels more like an extended preview for the first episode of disc two. There's also plenty of advertising included as extras: trailers for One Piece and Hikaru no go, advertisements for various Shonen Jump mangas, as well as an ad for Shonen Jump Magazine.

I was definitely disappointed in the special features. After watching this set, I was left with the impression that Viz was trying to produce the set as cheaply as possible. It's almost as if the thinking was that the Naruto property is so popular that the fans will buy the set, no matter how many or how few extras are included on it.

If you're a Naruto fan and want to collect the episodes on DVD, then this set would be a good addition to your collection.

the best in the series and better then dbz burst limit.
the game is fantastic and graphically astonishing the game is the very best in anime fighter style games.the game can also be compared to mortal combats next installment due to this game getting better scores and better graphics enhancements. this game thrashes the 360 versions of naruto due to controls, charicters and longevity. ask yourself why would i play naruto on 360 if the controls were terrible and full of fetch quests and sub par action. buy this it is definative for anime and fighter fans alike.

Now a respected ninja, Naruto evolves into a mature and strong hero. However, with his new status comes responsibility, and Naruto soon finds himself surrounded by conflict. Forced to relive bitter memories, Naruto's best friend Sasuke strikes out on a self-destructive quest for power. Now with the help of his friends, Naruto must confront Sasuke and save him before it's too late.

Live in an authentic Naruto world - Relive the best moments of the anime, adventure through the open village of Konoha, and enjoy voice-acting and music from the original series

The Bond is sort of Broken...
Given how totally awesome Rise of a Ninja was, I was eagerly anticipating this game. There are some changes in this here sequel tho'...and I gotta say, not all of them are good. However like it's predecessor, for Naruto fans it's still a big slice of ninja heaven.

Honestly this one is not as well thought out as the last one was. While Rise of Ninja was literally the "Best Way to Make a Game Out of the First 80 episodes of Naruto"... there are some things about Broken Bond that I could have lived without. This still falls into the category of a "Must Own for Any Self-Respecting Naruto Fan," but it's not as flawless as the pervious offering.

But there is some new stuff that's good. For instance you are given the opportunity of using more characters for the main quest instead of just Naruto. Which makes sense given the story, and makes things more interesting in both thequest and fighting gameplay. The fighting controls also seem to feel a bit less stiff. Also, they straight up give you the option of playing the game with the Japanese voice cast, which apparently for some people higher up on the Otaku Nerd food chain than myself is an absolute necessity. The basic mechanics of utilizing Jutsu to progress through the game, etc are still the same (which is good).

My main beef with this game is this:

In Rise of a Ninja each mission was different and was planned to help advance the story. With Broken Bond each mission is just a fetch quest with some fighting. And it's crazy repetitive. And after a while it gets kind of annoying. Like to the point where the word "insipid" isn't too far off. The context of earning the respect of the Hidden Leaf villagers helped to answer the question of "Why Am I Doing This Again?" in Rise of a Ninja. You're going to be asking yourself that question a lot more in Broken Bond...and most of the time your just not going to get an answer.

Additionally, they broke from using the actual series animation in some of the cut scenes. Some folks mightlike that better. I didn't. While the graphics engine makes for a great visual representation of the series animation - I wasn't feeling it cut scene wise. That's just me.

That aside, this is still a great game. All of the goodness from the 60 or so episodes from the second part of the series is in there. The epic battles are still awesome, graphics are still great, and when the game isn't making you backtrack for some inane fetch quest - it's fun-as-all-git-out.

While I recommended buying an Xbox 360 just to play Rise of the Ninja, or playing it even if you aren't a Naruto fan - I wouldn't make the same suggestions with this game. If you own an Xbox 360 and are a Naruto fan, then yes, you should totally own this.

All and all this is still a great Naruto game.

Amazon.comNaruto, everybody's favorite hyperactive knucklehead, and his fellow ninja-in-training Sakura and Sosuke complete their first major mission in this popular martial arts comedy-adventure. While Sakura defends the bridge builder and Kakashi grapples with renegade assassin Zabuza, Naruto and Sosuke have to put aside their personal animosity to tackle Haku, Zabuza's super-fast, needle-throwing cohort. Haku employs a secret jutsu to conjure a mirrored structure of ice that enables him to shift among multiple reflections, like Rita Hayworth in The Lady from Shanghai. The filmmakers suggest that Naruto may have the resources to achieve his dream of becoming Hokage (head ninja) when a seal leaks some of the power of the nine-tailed fox demon trapped within his body. Once the fight on the bridge ends, Naruto, Sosuke and Sakura must prepare for the Chunin exams, which will allow them to advance to the next stage of training. Junior ninja from the Hidden Nations of Sound, Rain, Water Fall, Sand, and Wind assemble in Leaf Village. All the other candidates have much more experience than the home-town rookies, but Sosuke's icy excellence immediately attracts challengers. Annoyed at the attention Sosuke's receiving, Naruto reverts to his trademark mixture of braggadocio and clumsiness. The exams are designed to eliminate all but the most promising ninja, and the candidates must figure out just what they're being tested on. Only the best will survive: Believe it! (Unrated, suitable for ages 12 and older: violence, alcohol and tobacco use) --Charles Solomon

For my daughter
I bought this dvd set for my 12 year old daughter who is a walking Naruto Wikipedia. She LOVED it. I had also, previously, bought her the volume 1 set. She can't get enough,... after homework, (talk about incentive!)

Amazon.comThe second season of the popular comedy-adventure Naruto begins with the second round of the Chunin exams. To reintroduce the main characters, the eternally impatient Naruto Uzumaki starts the show "27 minutes early--in the time slot of The Prince of Tennis"--so everyone has to scramble to fill the time until the videotape arrives. But once this very silly introduction concludes, the tone of the series darkens and the relationships grow more complicated. Brooding, beetle-browed Rock Lee reveals his affection for Sakura, just as she's coming to terms with her former best friend (and rival for Sasuke's affection) Ino. Sakura and Sasuke grudgingly gain a little respect for Naruto--when he's not annoying them by shooting off his big mouth. But the most significant development is the emergence of the villain Orochimaru, a reptilian character with a prehensile tongue Gene Simmons would envy. One of the most notorious and deadly criminals in ninja history, Orochimaru is drawn to Sasuke's extraordinary abilities, and he plans to ensnare the young ninja as an accomplice. Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke fail to grasp the seriousness of Orochimaru's plot, although the Hokage and his lieutenants are on the alert. This dire threat infuses the often slapstick antics of Squad Seven with a menace the first season lacked. Naruto may still be everybody's favorite knucklehead, but he's up against much tougher foes. The three-disc comes with the bound storyboards (in Japanese only) of Episode #29, "Naruto's Counterattack: Never Give In!" (Rated T+ Older Teen; suitable for ages 12 and older: violence, brief nudity, toilet humor) --Charles Solomon

Volume 3... Still pushing forward on this great series...
Volume 3 of the series starts with a very humourous introduction that recaps the first 25 episodes due to a "mistake" made by Naruto. It then introduces the new opening song... which is a very addictively awesome song. In my oppinion one of the best openings I've heard from any series, animated or not.

Volume 3 takes the viewer into the forest of death where the main villian for the series is first glimpsed in Orochimaru. Volume 3 is also where Naruto begins to let some lesser shown characters take the spotlight. Rock Lee... the annoying little brat from Volume Two becomes an instant fan favourite as he shows his skills and his high morals. And Sakura, finally does something useful while her comrades are out.

Once you watch Volume 3 there is no going back. Naruto will have you hooked!

Not Very Impressed
When I first ordered this game (4 weeks ago) I was ectastic I could finally play it. It got here today. I popped it in the PS2 and BAM!

'Please insert a playstation or playstation 2 game'

now, I retried it, and retried it again, nothing happened. Until I read this was a NTSC U/C game made specifically for that type of playstation 2. Mine is PAL. I was very dissapointed, don't get me wrong, the gameplay looks fantastic - But people outside North America (EG; Australia) I suggest you don't get this game. I suggest when ordering games from this site check your ps2/xbox or whatever you got to see what make it is before buying the game you want. I was very dissapointed because Amazon didn't warn me that it was a different region and asked if I still wanted to order it.

2/5 stars overall, sorry.
