Unlock all bonus characters to unlock All-Star mode.
Finish Subspace Emissary in Adventure mode.
Use one of the following methods to unlock Sheik. At the character selection screen, select the Zelda/Sheik area. Hover the pointer over your section, then press the following button to toggle between Zelda and Sheik:
Use a GameCube controller, press A.
Complete the indicated task to unlock the corresponding stage
75m: Play as Donkey Kong twenty times.
Big Blue (Melee): Play as Captain Falcon ten times.
Electroplankton: Finish Event Match #28.
Flat Zone 2: Unlock Mr. Game & Watch.
Frozen Hillside: Fight in the Halberd stage ten times in VS. mode.
Great Sea: Unlock Toon Link.
Green Greens: Play as Kirby twenty times in VS mode.
Green Hill Zone: Unlock Sonic.
Jungle Japes: Fight in any Melee stage ten times in VS. mode.
Luigi's Mansion: Play as Luigi three times.
Mushroomy Kingdom: Finish Event Match #19.
Pokémon Stadium: Fight in the Pokémon Stadium 2 ten times in VS. mode.
Port Town: Play as Captain Falcon ten times in VS. mode.
Spear Pillar: Finish Event Match #25.
Play as Zero Suit Samus
There are a few ways to play as Zero Suit Samus. At the character selection screen, select Samus, then hold the following buttons at the "Ready to Fight!" message:
Use a Wii-mote, hold Minus and press Plus.
Use a Wii-mote and Nunchuk, hold Nunchuk Z and press Plus.
Use a Classic controller, hold R and press Plus.
Use a GameCube controller, hold R and press Start.
Alternately, while playing as Samus during a match, quickly execute an Up Taunt followed by a Down Taunt and then another Up Taunt. Note: This is not a Final Smash and does no damage.
Unlock Bonus characters
Do the following to unlock each Bonus Character
Captain Falcon: Finish Classic mode in under twenty minutes, then defeat Captain Falcon in the next match. Alternately, play 70 VS. mode matches.
Falco: Finish the 100-man Brawl. Alternately, play 50 VS. mode matches.
Ganondorf: Finish Classic mode on the Hard difficulty with Link or Zelda. Alternately, play 200 VS. mode matches.
Jigglypuff: Finish Classic mode Use any character except Ike. Alternately, Finish Event Match #20 or play 350 VS. mode matches.
Lucario: Defeat Lucario in the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode) with Meta Knight. Alternately, Finish all Target Tests with either one or two players or play 100 VS. mode matches.
Luigi: Finish Classic mode on the Easy difficulty. Alternately, play 22 VS. mode matches or defeat Luigi in the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode).
Marth: Finish Classic mode. Alternately, play 10 Brawls or defeat Marth in the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode).
Mr. Game & Watch: Finish Classic mode Use all characters. Alternately, play 250 VS. mode matches.
Ness: Play 5 VS. mode matches. Alternately, reflect ten projectiles or defeat Ness in the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode).
R.O.B. the robot: Play 160 VS. mode matches or get 250 different trophies. Alternately, have R.O.B. join your party in the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode).
Snake: Play fifteen matches on Shadow Moses Island. Alternately, play 130 VS. mode matches.
Sonic: Finish the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode). Alternately, play 300 VS. mode matches.
Toon Link: Finish Cassic mode with Link. Alternately, play 400 VS. mode matches.
Wolf O'Donnell: Finish the Subspace Emissary (Adventure mode), then Finish Boss Battle mode with Fox. Defeat Wolf after he challenges you to unlock him. Alternately, play 450 VS. mode matches, then defeat Wolf after he challenges you. Another method is to Finish the Subspace Emissary, then go to the ruins to encounter and defeat Wolf.
Stage Builder parts
Finish the indicated task to unlock the corresponding parts:
Edit Parts A: Play ten VS. mode matches on Stage Builder stages.
Edit Parts B: Create five stages in Stage Builder mode.
Edit Parts C: Create fifteen stages in Stage Builder mode.
Target Tests
Finish Classic mode on the indicated difficulty or difficulties to unlock the corresponding Target Test level (as well as any easier level):
Level 2 (Medium): Finish Classic mode twice on the Easy difficulty or once on the Medium difficulty.
Level 3 (Hard): Finish Classic mode twice on the Medium difficulty or once on the Hard difficulty.
Level 4 (Very Hard): Finish Classic mode twice on the Hard difficulty or once on the Very Hard difficulty.
Level 5 (Intense): Finish Classic mode once on the Very Hard difficulty.
