Before I go on, I will admit that Direct2Drive is an advertiser on Zergwatch.  The reason they are an advertiser though is because for years I have used the service, long before Zergwatch.   It was only fitting to solicit business from quality companies that I would personally stand behind.  It's not like ZW is some dick site that just tells you what our sponsors want to hear.   If a company sucked, we wouldn't let them be our sponsor.

If you're an avid video game player like me, you've probably lost a CD Key or two along the way. For the past few years, I can honestly say, I have not lost a CD Key. I started using Direct2Drive. If you are not familiar with Direct2Drive, its an online service run by IGN Entertainment where you can buy and download a good number of video games.

I used to think that if I had the CD, the box and the manual, I felt like I actually owned something. Of course when you actually own the CD, the box and the manual, losing them means losing your key, your ability to reinstall when you get a new computer and lack of feeling like you own something tangible.

I started using Direct2Drive for my gaming downloads when I bought Planetside in August of 2005. Since then, I have bought over a dozen games with the service and can say both the service and the online availability of CD-Keys and downloads is matched only by not having to drive down to the local video game store to buy a game.

The worst part about being a gamer is getting a new system. It means you have to reinstall all the games you used to play. This can be frustrating when you lose keys, cd's get scratched or you just lose the CD's over the years.

With D2D, you just login, download the game again, retreive your CD key and you're back in business. I rarely endorse commercial services, but D2D has been outstanding for me for nearly three years.
