4 Great Products for the Eldery Wii Player

Wii turns grandmas into gamers

In an article title "Wii Turns Grandmas into Gamers" in the North Carolina based News & Observer about the elderly playing Wii, it made me think about how the industry can tap into a whole new market of Wii players.  The current Wii titles don't really cater to the over 80 crowd.

Wii Walker
Wii Walker is a Wii Zapper style interface that clips on to your walker.  Move your walker forward, your on screen character moves forward.  Lean your walker left and right to dodge.  Simple A/B combat commands control basic functions, but swing your walker over head and roundhouse your oponnent.  Pick the walker up high and slam it into the ground for some pile driving action.

The Lincoln Continental Grocery Store Challenge
Plug your Wii Remote into any Wii steering wheel and choose between driving a Buick or Lincoln as you race other grandmas to the grocery store at a blazing max speed of 45 miles per hour.   Win eight races and unlock your favorite 1940's classic cars.   The fun continues once you get to the grocery store.  Fight your way through mobs of seniors getting off the bus at the store with your Wii Walker and battle other grandmas for the last box of condensed milk on the shelf.

Wii "Senior" Carnival
Has your Parkinson's hurt your game?  Alzheimers bringing down your Brain Academy score?  Do your constant seizures and Narcolepsy interfere with your timed events?   It's ok, because in this modified version of Wii Carnival Games, your Parkinson's will come in handy in the "Shake the can of soda before giving it to your grandchild" mini-game.  Timed events will automatically pause if there is no Wii Remote activity after 10, so if you have a seizure or fall asleep while playing, no problem.

Senior Sims Wii Edition
The popular Sims game has been redesigned to include senior friendly activities.  Diaper changing stations have been added to the bathrooms, the house  has been made handicap accessible and instead of a city, you live in a retirement village run by an overzealous community standards board and overrun by crazy old coots walking around drooling on themselves in their pajamas.   All modern technology has been completely removed from the game, no need to fuss over TV remotes, Home Theater Systems or Garage Door Openers as technology in Senior Sims goes 50's retro.   Unlockable content includes shuffleboard, bridge, cruises, bus rides to the casino, buffets and the clapper.
