Portal was one of the biggest runaway successes of 2007. Not only critics, but hardcore and casual gamers alike were able to universally agree upon the fact that unique games like it are few and far between. Portal was easy to pick up and understand the play mechanics, while being immensely difficult to fully master, and it had quite a level of depth considering that it revolved around a singular play mechanic.

The one universal complaint that was leveled at Portal by those that could muster one was that the game either was or merely felt too short. Too little of a good thing, and while what was there was wonderfully put together and fully self contained, at 3-4 hours it felt like more of a taste of greatness than a full meal.

Much to the elation of fans Valve has admitted that more Portal is coming, but who knows how long that could take? Gamers want more Portal content now and with details on any new content from Valve being vague at best, where are we to turn? As with most games the simple answer is mappers. New user maps for Portal are coming in at a slow trickle many of which are of questionable quality, so which maps should we as discriminating gamers give our time to?

We can't speak for the quality of all the user maps out there, but FilePlanet is proud to feature not just one fan made map but an entire map pack made by none other than Daryl Brigner who just happens to be a developer with Bethesda! Given an edge by already working in the industry, Daryl "RenStike" has created three professional level maps of increasing, and at times overwhelming, difficulty that are good enough to stand side by side with the levels included in the retail game!

Those of you that not only have wanted more Portal to play but are aching for a bigger challenge will eat these maps up, and if you're not careful you just might be the one getting chewed up and spit out. Put bluntly, these maps are HARD and if you don't think you are up to the challenge then stay far away, but if you think you can handle them, consider yourself fairly warned...

These maps are not only difficult, but very creative; maps two and three contain new features, and the second map also showcases a jaw dropping new game-play mechanic that was not even in the original game!

If you are a fan of Portal looking for new content that provides a healthy challenge, you owe it to yourself to download this fantastic (if brief) map pack!

Download here!

P.S. If you get lost, just remember, the black dots are your friend.

...are you still there?
