REVIEWCan be fun, but could have been so much more.
It has a lot of fun events, although the interaction is a little sloppy as compared to Wii Sports. Also, it's difficult for lefty's to play as although you can play left...the characters still show right which can beconfusing depending on the game.

Otherwise, the game really is dependent on the user learning sometime ultra complex control sequences (buttons, nunchuck movements, etc...) to perform what should be easy tasks. ...think 'Finishing Moves' from Mortal Combat.

All in all...fun, but not sure if how long I'll keep. ..oh, and be careful not to sprain your wrists when you're trying to run.....timing doesn't have anything to do with the speed...just how fast you can alternate your two hands going up and down.

REVIEWHarder game than I expected
I have only spent about two hours with this game so far, but it is quite difficult. The downhill skiing takes quite a bit of practice to just get down the mountain. The bobsledding/luge doesn't give the player a lot of feedback on what one should be doing to perform better. The controller vibrates when you bump the sides but there are no visual queues to respond to. The curling is out and out confusing. After 15 minutes I couldn't figure out how to even toss a stone.

Bottom line, if you bought this game hoping to jump in and do some ski jumping, downhill, etc from the get go, then you will be disapointed. Some people will appreciate the difficulty. I just didn't expect it. The Wii is used by my kids (oldest is 6) 90% of the time and the controls are much to subtle for them - and for me, still, at this point.

REVIEWIf you like Pina Coladas...
If you like repetitive key punching, then have a couple pina coladas and you might find this entertaining. Maybe I'm too hard on it, this is best suited for a family get-together, with young kids, for setting the Olympic mood. But it really amounts little more than repetitive key punching, to the extent you wonder if you're going to brake your gamepads. Its not all that different from the Apple IIe's key-banging equivolent circa 1983, but the graphics have thankfully improved somewhat in the last 25 yrs -- too bad gameplay hasn't. I guess it's just difficult to make a good Olympics game, b/c no one ever pulls it off.

Summer Athletics offers multiplayer fun for the entire family and brings the action and excitement of the most popular summer sport disciplines right into your living room. The charming 3D comic style, varying levels of difficulty and intuitive controls will make Summer Athletics great fun for beginners and experts alike. Customize your character and develop your career as a professional athlete in career mode or challenge your friends in head-to-head competition.

REVIEWA workout for sure!
This game will definitely get all your muscles working! Exactly how I thought the running events would be (drumming the nunchuck and the controller). Same for the throwing events, though it does take some time to get the timing down. The archery is pretty cool. Personally I think the diving is the hardest thing to master. First time is a little muddled to figure out how to do split screen, create your own player ect (but then again I never read the book, I just fire it up!)

A good game if you are trapped inside with some friends for a friendly competition!

REVIEWArm Tiring, Fun and Hard to Play!!!
First thing I will say to you, have you've ever played Track and Field at the arcade in the 80's or the Xbox Live arcade version? Do you remember mashing those buttons to make the player go fast to get the best times? Well this game is going to bring back those memories again.
This game does have 38 events and most of these events are hard to do and to master. So don't think you'll going to blow the competition like it's nothing.

Controls:
I have to say my arm got so tired after I was done playing this game. But I will say it all great fun. Some events on this game the control can be too intense and too hard to master but that beauty of this game, it's not easy to do. Putting a challenge to me is which make this game worth the money.

Graphic:
The graphic in game is not too bad, but enough to say that this game is a next gen game for the Xbox 360. I feel some areas they could of added to make it better like having the player sweating while doing the events, or even tears when they win the gold medal. Little things like that could of been nice, but I guess you can't have it all.

Online mode:
The online mode on the 360 is good. A few lagging while playing the game but I'm sure they'll have that fix on a patch soon. As far as finding someone to play against with there is no problems in this area.

Overall:
The game play is good but some issues on this game that could of made the game better. Such as:
1. They should of have it where we can customize our own player rather than selecting their player models they have.
2. Have commentator talk more during the event and have the crowd cheering more to make that game more alive.
3. On the table tennis event they should of change the viewpoint so it easier for us to see the ball to hit.

Final Thoughts:
This game did bring back memories from the old track and field game. Some
things on this game that could of made it better, but I won't complain. I find this game fun, hard and plenty of events to choose from to keep busy and to break records. I definitely recommend this game to anyone that love button mashing games or the track and field game in the 80's. But first I do recommend you to download the free trial of Track and Field on Xbox Live Arcade to get the feel of what Beijing 2008 will have to offer but more.

REVIEWKids love this game
This was originally for my 10yr. old daughter & 7yr. old son. Once my boyfriend figured out how much fun they were having he couldn't be left out! They really have fun with this game & its a way for them to enjoy time together. There favorite event is the diving & cycling. I would recommend this game.

REVIEWIf I had only known...
I bought this as a present for my son, a bit worried because I could not find out the necessary computer specs ahead of time. Turns out it requires 1 gb of RAM--my son has been playing lots of other sports games with just 256 RAM. So we couldn't even load the game. Now I see from the other review that we might need lots of other things we haven't got.... My son is very disappointed.
