Title: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Price: Check Pricing & Availability
ESRBRating: Teen
Suggested Retail Price: $33.95

Zergwatch: The Star Wars saga will continue in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, a videogame developed by LucasArts, which casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice" and promises to unveil new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny.

As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force. The PSP version will not only give you a solid story-line developed by LucasArts involving the Darth Vader's secret apprentice, but you'll experience fun mobile gameplay only the PSP can offer. With graphics comparable to PS2 you'll be able to easily immerse yourself into the game and battle your way through enemies utilizing your Lightsaber attacks and Force powers. You can also try your Jedi skills against a friend in the PSP's "Battle Mode." Joining the Dark Side doesn't seem like such a bad idea after all.

Game Features:

  • During the period between Episodes III and IV, players hunt Jedi in the role of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice.
  • Unleash and upgrade the Secret Apprentice's four core Force powers - Force push, grip, repulse and lightning - throughout the course of the game, and combine them for ultra-destructive, never-before-seen combos.
  • Examples of unleashing the Force in ways never thought possible:
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force push enemies into walls - he'll Force push enemies through walls.
    • The Secret Apprentice won't just Force grip foes to throw them aside - he'll Force grip them in midair, zap them with lightning, then drop them to the ground to explode like a bomb.
  • In addition to new adversaries created just for the game, such as fugitive Jedi and Force-sensitive Felucians, players will also confront and associate with familiar faces from the Star Wars films, including Darth Vader.
  • Visit locations such as Episode III's Wookiee homeworld Kashyyyk and the floral Felucia, the junk planet Raxus Prime, plus an Imperial TIE fighter construction facility.
  • The PSP game system's "Battle Mode," a one on one fighting arena similar to the classic game, Star Wars: Masters of Teräs Käsi.
  • LucasArts is preparing an unprecedented promotional effort around the launch of The Force Unleashed, encompassing a full line of toys and game-based action figures from Hasbro, as well as a full publishing program from Dark Horse, Del Rey and Palace Press.

Meet the Cast
The Star Wars Saga will continue in 2008 with LucasArts' biggest-ever video game event. Set during the "dark times" between Episodes III and IV, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed portrays the previously untold story of Darth Vader's Secret Apprentice -- and now you can put a face to that mysterious character as well as the major supporting cast members as LucasArts unveils the actors set to star in The Force Unleashed.

The Cast of The Force Unleashed

The Technology of The ForceUnleashed
With The Force Unleashed, LucasArts not only introduces a new chapter in the Star Wars saga, but also pushes the PSP's game engine to deliver amazing detail and realism only found in a Star Wars title. You will experience gameplay and the Force like you never had before.

REVIEWThe Praises Unleashed
The Force Unleased is memorable. It really offers a different style of the force never before seen in the Star Wars frachise. To tell you the truth I have played most Star Wars games. But this one is different.

Sure, its not as phenomenal as the Knights of The Old Republic but it has a unique aspect to it that will grab the attention of those interested in Star Wars games. But its not as bad as the disgracful Obi-Wan Kenobi game. The Storyline is not RPG style as it was in Knights of the Old Republic and for the PSP(i am not sure about other consoles) you follow a linear path to completing the game. The Story catches your attention by allowing you to be Darth Vader in the first level. But the story ends a little quick; it took me about 4-5 days to beat them. Ultimately, the storyline will prove to be memorable and has a major twist that will leave you stunned.

There is not much you can expect from the PSP, but this game had stellar graphics. I beleive that might've been the reason why the game would stall for a sec or two at some parts so all in all it was worth the second wait. The game offers rewards and unlockable characters as incentives to completing the mini games it has to offer. In relation, The mini games get easier to accomplish when you gradually upgrade your force powers. And upgrading force powers requires beating the story mode a number of times in order to gain the force points needed to upgrade and eventually the attributes carry on to make you stronger for mini games and in repeated story mode missions. Great Incentives allow for high replayability.

The Mini games are plety: including historic missions and deuls as well as surviving the waves of enemies carrying out the emperor's order 66. The Gameplay has matured. There are a number of unique and different force powers never yet discovered in other Star Wars games. For those of you that have played Mortal Kombat, you might have heard of Fatalities. Likewise, those of you into wrestling games might have heard of finishers. For those of you who haven't: they are brutal ways to finish off your enemies once youve pretty much defeated them. The fatality/finisher system is incorporated into the Star Wars game. When the enemy's life is low a button will appear on the screen to push(you can choose to complete this fatality or just finish the job your self); a combination of buttons will follow and you must press them at the right times in order to complete the fatal finisher. What makes it even more fun is that each enemy has a unique way of being finished off. Light saber locks and force locks are still present to nourish the hunger for battle urge. ( they occur when you and the enemy attack with either the force or a lightsaber at the same time.)

In Conclusion, i think this game is best suited for a Star Wars fan. Other wise, if you seek to realease the force inside you and electricute the living day ligths out of all foolish enought to stand in your way: it should be bought used or atleast a rental. <<>>

God of War: Chains of Olympus:

Before he waged war on the gods...he was forced to serve them

The third game in the God of War franchise, God of War: Chains of Olympus for PlayStation Portable is a prequel to the first two games in the series published for PlayStation 2, and true the high standards of God of War and God of War II, not only does it equal the efforts of its predecessors, in some ways it may even surpass them.

Kratos' Story<
>The God of War franchise tells the tragic and violent story of the warrior Kratos and his dealings with the gods. The ancient world would eventually both praise and damn the infamous `Ghost of Sparta' as the mortal who slayed a god, but long before his battle with Ares, Kratos sought absolution from his past sins by pledging himself as a champion to the gods. These brutal crusades in the name of Olympus became legendary, but would have far-reaching consequences. In Chains of Olympus Kratos is pushed to the edge as he is ordered by the gods to journey to the very depths of the underworld after the world plunges into darkness. There he must face the most feared creatures of Greek mythology and is forced to choose between his own personal redemption and saving the ancient world from certain destruction. It is a choice that will shake the immortals from their perches on Mt. Olympus.

God of War's Epic Gameplay Comes to the PSP<
>PlayStation Portable has always been head and shoulders above its competitors in the handheld market when it comes to processing power, and in God of War: Chains of Olympus the PSP platform may just have reached its highest level to date. Packed with features like dramatic camera angles, epic set pieces, cinematic cut scenes, stirring audio and seamless fast action gameplay, formerly only available on console platforms Chains of Olympus binds players to the game's epic adventure, regardless where they are when they join in the action.

Combat Moves, Both Old and New<
>Nearly as defining as the name of Kratos itself, the trademark sweeping attack moves of the `Ghost of Sparta' using his weapon of choice the `Blades of Chaos,' epitomizes all God of War games and Chains of Olympus is no exception.

Although overall the PSP has fewer buttons than the PlayStation 2 controller, developer Ready at Dawn Studios has managed to incorporate nearly all of the attack moves and combination moves from previous games in the series into this new project. This continuity in gameplay not only provides a seamless intro into the game for veteran players, but a gentle learning curve for players new to the series. Add to this new brutal combat moves and an additional upgradable weapon and you have a combat system that will engage players at all levels.

Exploration and Puzzle Solving<
>From the bright gates of Attica to the darkest dungeons of Tartarus, Kratos' journey and your own will take you through the dark and brutal world of Greek mythology. Here not only will your skill with the Blades of Chaos be tested, but your wits as well.

As you explore the dangers of the ancientworld, players must be prepared to use their navigational skills as they press on through labyrinths of challenging puzzles. Some may be simple tests at manipulating the game's environment to your advantage, while others much more difficult also requiring precision timing of moves, but each will be different and test you in new ways.

An Evolution in Franchise History<
>More than just a missing piece in the history of the God of War franchise, Chains of Olympus also serves as an evolutionary link between the origins ofthe God of War franchise and its future. Originally developed for PlayStation 2, the future of the franchise is slated to make its arrival on PlayStation 3 in the form of the highly anticipated God of War III in the not too distant future. Not only is PlayStation Portable designed to work in unison with PlayStation 3 in many ways, but both long-time fans and newcomers to the series who choose to watch and play Chains of Olympus carefully may very well pick up clues as to the direction the franchise will be heading in with God of War III.

Regardless, whether you find yourself playing for the current chapter in Kratos' saga or preparing yourself for the battles to come on the PlayStation 3, God of War: Chains of Olympus is a must have title for any current owner of a PSP or those consid ering getting in the handheld game with one.

TiVo-To-Go™

  • Watch recorded TV content downloaded to your Memory Stick Duo
  • TiVo-To-Go™ service costs $24.95 (one time flat fee) and converts recorded TiVo content to the correct PSP system format
  • Check www.tivo.com/tivotogo for more information

Here's How it Works

  1. To access your TiVo content for playback on your PSP, your TiVo Series2™ must be connected to your home network (connecting it to your PC).
  2. Next, go to www.tivo.com/tivotogo to download the TiVo Desktop Plus software. This will allow your PC to convert the TiVo files to a PSP readable format. TiVo charges a one-time fee of $24.95 for this service, payable via their website.
  3. When TiVo Desktop Plus has been downloaded, click the box in the `Preferences' menu to ensure files are converted to PSP format.
  4. Transfer the shows you wish onto your PC. The PC will then automatically convert the files into PSP readable files and place in a separate portable downloads folder.
  5. You'll then need to connect your PSP to your PC via the USB cable — which will turn the PSP into an external drive. Make sure your Memory Stick Duo has been formatted for use on the PSP and that you have updated your PSP system's firmware to version 2.80 or later. From there, you'll be able to enjoy your TiVo content on your PSP!
*Mac users can convert their TiVo Series2 programs for PSP as well using Roxio Toast 8 -- see http://www.tivo.com/mactivotogo/ for details.

The product was intended for my 7-year old's birthday and she loves it.
It has good graphics and is easy for her to work with. She should get a few good years out of it!

REVIEWThe best for everyday gameplay
I had the original Logitech case for the PSP 1000 and thought it was perfect. It provided great protection for my entire system.

Unfortunately, when I got the PSP Slim, I was out of luck. The original case was just too big and the PSP bounced around inside.

The case Sony makes looks similar to the Logitech version and is a great alternative, but is too bulky for my daily gameplay needs.

Nerf has a great case as well, but because it doesn't cover the UMD door (so you can leave the PSP in the case at all times) my PSP picked up nicks and scratches on the door.

Finally, after a long wait, Logitech brings out the best case for my needs. It covers the entire PSP, where it fits snugly and locks tight when closed. It's also slim enough for me to enjoy regular gameplay without having to remove the system, and the door holds itself in place regardless of how wide or narrow you open it up, which can be helpful when sunlight is a problem. It can also accommodate the larger extended life batteries that Sony has since discontinued.

The so-called customizable face leaves a bit to be desired since it basically asks you to print whatever you want and then cut it to fit between the rubber & polycarbonate. It's not something I'm going to do since I think the case looks fine as it is.

With this UMD hard case, you'll have peace of mind knowing that your UMD discs are safe and secure. The UMD Case comfortably holds up toeight UMD discs firmly in place without applying any heavy pressure on them.

REVIEWSturdy and Functional
Does what is says. Stores up to 8 UMDs easily and safely. I only wish it had a place for the extra memory stick. A bit thicker than I'd like but again, stores your UMDs safely.
