In Prey, gamers enter an unpredictable world where nothing can be taken for granted. You'll become Tommy, a Cherokee garage mechanic stuck on a reservation, going nowhere in life. When an otherworldly crisis awakens spiritual powers from his long-forgotten birthright, he & his girlfriend are abducted by aliens who need him to save the planet -- even if he's not sure he can. Multiplayer game support that takes advantage of the unique gameplay styles in Prey Deep, emotional story of love and sacrifice based on the Hero's Journey story structure -- the same used to tell Luke Skywalker's story in the original Star Wars

Prey
Prey has an unusual format, storyline and main character model.

Story graphics run around 9 with the issue of respawn the weakest part of the game action. Respawing is simply pecular and though innovative interrupts the storyline to such a degree as to be annoying.

Great idea, well developed with lots of action. vehicle action (flying vehicle) is really very well done.

Prey

"Prey" is weird. It's a weird game. Firstly it's a mix of genres: the game style is solid FPS, but the story is another matter completely. It's urban. It's sci-fi. It's mythology. It's all those things mixed up in a bizarre storyline featuring Native American folklore and levitating aliens.

Perhaps that's not the best start. I'll try again. You are Domasi "Tommy" Tawdi, a man of Cherokee descent wondering if one's genealogy is really worth a damn when you live and work on a crummy reservation, in the middle of a dusty highway somewhere in Oklahoma. Your wrinkly, feather-in-hair grandfather is on your case, fearing for your eternal spirit. Your girlfriend believes in all that crap and doesn't want to move away from her ancestral soil. And you're a garage mechanic who thinks there's more to life that dust in your coffee and truckstop thugs pawing at your girl.

That's how the game starts. You don't like it when thugs paw at your girl. You pick up your wrench - and you bludgeon them to death right there next to the bar. Your wrench gleams with sticky redness in the artificial light from the slot machines. Jen, the girl in question, screams at you. Then there are rays of pale green light slicing through the dirty windows and the cracks in the ceiling, and things in the room start moving of their own accord, and you and Jen and your wise old grandpa are being sucked into a huge craft hovering directly overhead, the jukebox wailing urban rock in your ears, and then--

Weirdness. The story is weird: as a Cherokee apparently with the power to stop the sentient alien "Sphere" expanding around the Earth, you must use your mystic skills to "spirit walk" out of your own body. You can do this to pass through energy field, and flip switches to open doors for your physical form, aided by your dead falcon Talon. Weird. The Sphere is run by a psychic alien race who strip planets for a living to prolong their own existence. Their vast ship is full of wandering tentacles and man-sized sphincters that belch acid. Weird. It's also riddled with artificial wormholes, doorways in the wall or in crates or on rails, that take you to different areas of the Sphere. Sometimes they throw you out on the roof. Distorted gravity keeps you there while enemies warpout onto the opposite wall, shooting at you with bugs that have corrosive gas for blood. WEIRD. You don't even walk on the floor in this game!

In fact, all of this weirdness is used to brilliant effect. The puzzles that sometimes temporarily halt your progress involve using the spirit walking and the gravity defiance to your advantage. Your weird weapons, including the afore-mentioned bug-grenades, vary from standard energy rifles to armour-piercing gun-arms blown from the shoulders of psychopathic alien giants. And don't expect to utilise any cool technology toopen all of those cyber-organic doors. You have a severed hand.

In short, with "Prey" you literally don't know which way's up. You don't know what's more real, the spirit or the flesh. You don't know whether that body part on the floor will help you later on. You don't know if you'll rescue your grandfather or your girlfriend, or if those near-humans who are trying to help you will get you killed first. You don't know if you believe in yourself or your heritage.

You're the saviour of Earth, but you don't want the job. Can you handle the weirdness? It's dirt cheap now but sadly forgotten about, despite the good reviews it earned eighteen months ago. Get it. Enjoy it. Forget what's normal.

Great concept and delivery with only a few lows
Considering how long this game has been out, I won't waste time with an introduction. This was a real satisfying setup, especially given I got it out of the bargain bin at Wal-mart. The portals and gravity manipulation gave the game a wonderful feel and a sense of vertigo that was almost constant, and kept me looking in every nook and cranny on walls and ceiling, given you had no idea where the next batch of opponents would come from. The portaling system was gorgeous, and despite being a little underexplained (if the Sphere needs energy, stop making portals which probably require the power of medium-sized cities) introduced a visual element that literally took my breath away when I first saw it. Not to mention the gorgeous scenes of the interior of the sphere.

The visceral atmosphere was also well developed and mantained, from the initial "juicer" you first encounter to the catatonic humans you periodically run into. The enemies have a great balance between being monstrous and just simple animals, rather than acting like you have a homing becaon attached to you like so many shooters are wont to do.

The only problem I have is some of the stereotypical anecdotes and flaws of the character. The grandfather of the main character is so overly done it seems like he'd have been better placed in "Dances With Wolves." At one point he comments on how Tommy needs to learn to fight like his people, rather than "with white mans weapons." I don't know about you, but I'd rather have a SAW or a flamethrower myself, heritage or no heritage.

The only other problem is the protagonist himself. Granted, one can easily understand his disillusionment with growing up on a reservation and wanting to leave, and his dislike of his culture, which reminds him of the res, but when your grandfathers spirit walks up to you in a spiritual world, I'd think you're well past the point of everything you grew up learning being, in the characters words, "superstitous s#!t"

Aside from those slight problems, which would really only stick in the craw of someone like me, who overanalyzes movies, this game is fantastic. The other audio is great, the radio messages you intercept are hysterical, and the flow of the game is fantastic. Given that you can easily pick this up now for around $20, go buy it!

Abducted along with his people to a menacing mothership orbiting Earth, he sets out to save himself and his girlfriend and ultimately his planet. Multiplayer Multiplayer games take complete advantage of the unique gameplay styles of Prey, as players walk on the ceilings and walls while the map¹s gravity flips from side to side Note - May require advanced video processing capabilities on your Mac computer

Great Multiplayer, solo mission a bit short but good
I haven't played an FPS in a while and when I had some free time I downloaded the trial and what sold me was the multiplayer which you can play for free. The demo had 2 MP maps but the full version has 12. Most of the MP maps are 5 star. The only downside is finding a multiplayer game online is discouraging but findable. Usually there are a few people playing but when there is not I join a server then in a minute or two people start joining. Makes you think people are ot playing but they will join soon. the solo mission is really good. the demo of the solo mission has a lot of cut scenes and the levels seem small but once you get past that point on the full version there are some very clever map puzzles to figure out. It could be a bit longer on the SP.

You'll "prey" for more!
I am a FPS (First-Person Shooter) junkie and I love the Halo, Star Wars Battlefront and Rainbow Six series games. As of this writing, I have completed Prey on "Normal Skill" and am now working my way through the "Cherokee Skill" difficulty setting.(NOTE: These are the only two difficulty settings available in Prey.)

To state it upfront, Prey blows the FPS genre wide open. The game uses the Doom 3 engine for graphics, and players will be amazed with the level of detail the designers have put into each level. Moreover, many of the items in the environment are interactive (you can flush toilets, change the channels on a TV, etc.), which is reminiscent of the Duke Nukem 3D game that this developer is famous for. In addition, the main character makes snide remarks through the game (just infrequently enough to be funny, and not overdone) just like Duke used to do.

Even if you're not entertained by all the cute gimmicks, you're sure to appreciate the incredible details that have been woven into this title. As you progress, you'll encounter anti-gravity levels, low gravity environments and "wormholes" that warp you from one location to the next. And, like the game design, the plot is equally intricate. Although this game seems like a "guy saves girl" story, there are some very exciting plot twists and the storyline is based on actual Cherokee mythology and uses "The Hero's Journey," a writer's tool for story structure and plot. Speaking of the plot, there's a super-natural horror element that adds a considerable amount of suspense to the game. This, along with the over-the-top violence and adult language, means you probably shouldn't buy this game for impressionable children. However, all of this is not gratuitous and really adds to the impact of the title.

On the Normal difficulty, health power-ups are frequent and -when you die- you're sent to an "Indian underworld" where you must shoot wraiths with your spirit bow, in order to replenish your health and magic energy... Certainly a refreshing twist from every game that sends you back to the beginning of the level. On the Cherokee difficulty, there are no in-game health packs, so you'll have to rely on your abilities with the spirit bow. Speaking of spirits, you're also provided with a hawk who's your "Spirit Guide." The hawk will help attack enemies and, interestingly enough, translate the alien language so that you can read their computer panels and other information.

One thing that other reviewers haven't mentioned so far is that there are "puzzles"scattered throughout the game. Without providing any spoilers, the game sometimes makes you think in order to progress any further. For the most part, these puzzles are entertaining and challenging, but aren't designed so that you must buy a "game guide" to solve them. Often, solving the puzzles requires use of the "old ways" of your Indian ancestry, items that exist in the alien environment, or just good old fashion brainpower. Another nice feature is that the game levels are not so big that you'll find yourself lost, but you may have to explore a little to figure out exactly where to go. These features add to Prey's uniqueness in that it is more of a "thinking man's shooter" than your standard FPS.

If you're in it for the Xbox 360 achievements, this game will deliver. Each time you complete a level, you earn Gamerscore (from 25-60 points per level, which increase as you progress). It's also important to note that 250 of Prey's 1000 points are earned by playing online. There's even 3 "secret" achievements (you don't find out what they are until you earn them) that are quite fun to unlock. All of the achievements are obtainable by the average gamer.

When it comes right down to it, Prey is a game that any FPS-fan will absolutely love for the engaging story and the unique features. In addition, novice gamers that find most FPS games too difficult should consider this the perfect entry-level title. Finally, any sci-fi fan who loved the movie "Aliens," and thinks they could take on an alien invasion like Sigourney Weaver did, should pick up this title and put their money where their mouth is.

In F.E.A.R. you aren't a soldier -- you are a weapon. A paramilitary force infiltrates a multi billion dollar aerospace compound taking hostages, but issuing nodemands. The government responds by sending in its best special operations teams, only to have them obliterated. Live footage of the massacre is cut short by an unexpected wave of destruction that leaves military leaders stunned and in disbelief. With no other option, they send in the ultimate warrior: You.

Rock solid, highly polished shooter
I found a copy of FEAR for sale on the bargain rack at my local games store. I admit I thought it wouldn't be very good, since it was on the same shelf as dreck like Two Worlds. The game store I use is trying so hard to get rid of their last copies of that horrible excuse for an RPG that they've reduced the price three times. Last I checked it was ten bucks. I got my copy of FEAR for twenty. And let me tell you--it was worth the full sixty most games fetch these days.

I popped it in and started playing. At first I couldn't quite get the hang of the controls. Enemies mowed me down a few times and I had a bad experience with a game glitch at the end of the first level. It didn't load the cutscene, and I didn't know any better, so I thought I still needed to do something. I spent almost two hours going through that level, searching every nook and cranny, before it occurred to me to try and play the level through again. This time the cutscene played and I could move on.

And good lord I'm glad I stuck with it.

The story gets a little better with each chapter, though it's not the main focus (this is a pure shooter, after all). It's not bad. There are several paranormal influences in the game, and your character is subject to intense visions that are genuinely creepy at times.

The action, which is the core of FEAR, is GREAT. This game features "bullet time," in which you can slow down time enough to get the drop on your foes. The animation and graphics are so tightly executed that you really get your blood pumping in a firefight as bullets ricochet around you and kick up clouds of brick dust from walls and concrete.

The physics is excellent. I found the most satisfying thing in the game was to go into bullet time, move up on a foe, and blast him point-blank with a shotgun, then release bullet time and watch him get blown backwards over a railing by the slug. It's all very slick and entertaining.

While it's billed as being a horror experience, don't be fooled. It's definitely a shooter first with horror undertones. But those undertones are well-done, too, and you'll have a few anxious moments between the firefights.

You'll have a lot of fun with this game if you enjoy first-person shooters. I highly recommend it. If there's any reason why I didn't give it five stars, it's only because there is no one area in which it stands out. It's a shooter, plain and simple. In short, you've played this game before--but you'll still have as much fun this time around as you did last time, and the time before that.

Traditional multiplayer modes as well as all-new innovative game modes Next-gen graphics and gameplay featuring advanced voice-synching and facial animations and fully interactive environments

Very, very dark
First off, this is a game for adults only.
And I mean that in no uncertain terms. (This is a game that visits the worst human tragedy in known history - World War I) Violence, language and general depravity considered, even an adult might want to rethink her/his steps when purchasing this item. Some of the actions and environments were so intense, they literally made me feel weird and bad. I truly felt anger at the end and actually cried during the final sequence.

If you can shrug off these warnings, you are in for arguably the most substantial experience on the 360 so far.

Even in its earlier releases, Starbreeze prided itself in challenging the player to think outside the bounds of what was possible within a game, and The Darkness continues that legacy. From a first person perspective, the player inhabits young hitman Jackie's persona as he unravels the mystery of his (unexpectedly granted) powers. The plot thickens as Jackie's battle with his own (Mike Patton voiced) demons escalates as does his confrontation with a previously patriarchal uncle-turned-nemesis. With just enough twists and unexpected surreal moments, the ride is a perfect, if taxing one. For a superb shooting mechanic, sick & constant sense of humor, and moments of shock that truly shock, you can't do better than the Darkness.

On the minus side, there are long wait times between Entrance/Exit points and the map is virtually useless. Glitchy controls with regards to the (Primarily most useful tool of) Creeping Dark slow down the otherwise frenetic pace of confrontations. Achievement Hounds should also be warned: some of the achievements in this game are ambivalent, to say the least. I'm a fan, and have yet to unlock many of them.

Such qualms aside, this is the game people who loved "Riddick" should be ready to expect: A rock solid shooter that feels more like an RPG or sandbox game.
Insane attention to detail, impeccable visuals, and a nasty sense of reality.
The most profound and simultaneously profane experience the 360 can offer.
You have been warned.

BioShock X360

Bioshock Story-WARNING,SPOILER-from Wikipedia.org
BioShockStory
The underwater city of Rapture

At the start of the game, Jack (the character controlled by the player) is a passenger on a plane that goes down in the Atlantic Ocean in 1960,[37] after ordered society in Rapture has collapsed.[38] After surfacing, Jack finds himself the only survivor of the crash, and swims to a nearby lighthouse, where he finds a bathysphere which he uses to descend into the ocean and enter the failed "paradise" of Rapture.[39] Atlas assists Jack via radio in making his way to safety, while Ryan, believing Jack to be a government agent (though he's not sure which government), uses Rapture's automated systems and his pheromone-controlled Splicers against him. Atlas tells Jack that the only way he can survive is to use the abilities granted by plasmids, and that he must kill the Little Sisters to extract their ADAM. Overhearing Atlas' words, Dr. Tennenbaum intercepts Jack, and urges him to save the Little Sisters instead. She gives him a special plasmid that will kill only the embedded slugs while leaving the girls alive and restoring their humanity, albeit with a much smaller reward of ADAM for Jack. Tennenbaum promises to repay him if he does as she asks.[34] As Jack works his way through the city, he learns about Rapture's fate and history through audio logs, genetically-induced ghostly playbacks of past events, and radio messages. Atlas says his wife and childhave been hiding on a submarine, and just as Jack and Atlas reach the bay where it is located, Ryan has it destroyed; an enraged Atlas tells Jack that Ryan must die.

Jack makes his way to Ryan, who offers no resistance to Jack's efforts, but instead reveals why Jack has come to Rapture: Jack was actually born in Rapture a mere two years ago, genetically modified to mature rapidly. He is Ryan's illegitimate son by an affair with Jasmine Jolene, an exotic dancer.[35] Ryan further reveals that, after purchasing Jack's embryo, Frank Fontaine designed him to obey orders that are preceded or followed by the specific phrase "Would you kindly." Jack was then sent to the surface when the war started to put him beyond Ryan's reach. When the conflict between Fontaine and Ryan reached a stalemate, Jack was sent instructions to board a flight with a package. At a designated time he opened the package to discover a gun and instructions to hijack and crash the plane next to the lighthouse, enabling him to return to Rapture as the cat's-paw of Atlas. Ryan calmly demonstrates Jack's lack of free will by forcing him to follow his commands using the trigger phrase, "Would you kindly..." which Jack then realizes Atlas has been using since his arrival. Ryan then orders Jack to kill him, so as to die on his own terms. Atlas, in complete control of the city as a result of Ryan's death, reveals himself to be Frank Fontaine, having faked his own death and adopted the alias and persona of Atlas to throw Ryan off his trail. With Ryan dead, Fontaine no longer needs Jack, and leaves him at the mercy of the reactivated security systems. Nevertheless, Dr. Tennenbaum and her Little Sisters help Jack escape through the vent system, where he falls and loses consciousness.

When Jack awakes, Dr. Tennenbaum has already deactivated some of his conditioned responses and assists him in breaking the remaining ones, among them one that would have eventually stopped his heart. During their subsequent pursuit of Fontaine, the doctor predicts that the only way to get through the last few obstacles would be to assemble a Big Daddy diving suit and follow the rescued Little Sisters through the passageways that only they can open. By the time Jack reaches him, Fontaine has injected himself with vast amounts of ADAM, becoming an inhuman monster. Jack and Fontaine battle, and Jack eventually prevails, allowing the Little Sisters to subdue Fontaine, by swarming over Fontaine and stabbing him with their needles, killing him by draining all the ADAM out of his system. Here the game ends.

Three endings are possible depending on how the player interacted with the Little Sisters, all narrated by Dr. Tennenbaum. If the player rescued all the Little Sisters (therefore saving their lives), the ending shows the rescued Little Sisters returning to the surface with Jack and living full lives under his care, including them graduating from college, getting married, and having children; it ends on a heart-warming tone, with an elderly Jack surrounded on his deathbed by all of the adult Little Sisters. If the player harvested (and therefore killed) more than two, but not all, of the Little Sisters, the game ends with Jack turning on the Sisters after defeating Fontaine, presumably killing them all and taking their ADAM. Tennenbaum's voice narrates what occurred, condemning Jack and his actions. Later in the second ending, a ballistic missile submarine carrying a nuclear missile comes across the wreckage of the plane andis suddenly surrounded by bathyspheres containing Splicers. The Splicers kill all hands aboard the submarine and take control of it.[40] If the player harvested all of the Little Sisters, the player is shown the same movie as the second ending, though the tone of Tennenbaum's voice is angrier.[41]

Coming 4 U Barb
Overall, I liked the game a lot and played it a 2nd time just to max out all level ups and go on a killing rampage, but the part that always griped me was that the SMALL screen scripts to read whenever you get a hint or message, and too many overlaps in missions to save people within a too limited amount of time. The hopping around on the heads of the zombies to finally clear the last challenge probably sounded good on paper, but in practice it was frustrating. Otherwise, I liked it, but not a great deal of re-play value once you beat it unless you want to do the rampage thing.
