LP getting too big for their britches? Lonely Planet has been the standard for in-depth guidebooks for a while now, with more and more titles being added and updates more frequently. But has success gone to their head? I'm finding LP's most recent books have developed an "attitude". I.E., their travel writing is becoming more and more smarmy and "hipsterish". I dunno, maybe I'm just getting old? :( This LP USA guide is the worst yet I've read so far in regard. They're trying so hard to be "cool" or something, like it was an LP book written by guys watching MTV or something. If this continues, I don't know if I'll continue to buy their updates of favorite titles. The depth of info here is still pretty top notch and their organizing of their books is still great. But for heck's sake, guys, just REPORT, OK? Stop trying to act like Stephen Colbert or Jon Stewart writing travel essays!

Watch It Made In The USA Great book, I did not know that a book like this existed. Will definitly come in handy when planning trips. Checked information on places we have already been and information was accurate.

Great help for planing a cross country trip This is an excellent guide for those who want to sample what the United States has to offer. It is an excellent place to start especially if you are only going to be traveling through a lot of places. If you are going to someplace for a week this book will not be helpful and you should get the regional guides. Overall planning a cross country trip it gives lots of advice on cities as well as small out of the way places that would be fun to see. Great addition to a travel book collection.

Essential Reading I've written a longer, more extensive review for Film Threat, but I'm going to do another one here because I believe this book belongs on the shelves of every horror/exploitation fan, film buff and film journalist.Yes, it is expensive, but it's also a 500+ page oversized hardcover with color and black and white photos (many from filmmakers' personal collections), movie reviews and interviews (many with directors who have never spoken about their films publicly before). As I said in my previous review, this is probably the best film book of the decade.
If exploitation films are your cup of tea, you need this book. Period. At some point this should become some sort of mandatory college text book, as it is not only a history in filmmaking that is rarely covered by more "serious" journalists, it's also a crash course on filmmaking.
Once you read this incredible book, which will cause you arms to fall off if you try to do it in one sitting, you'll be thrilled to know it's only the first volume (the second one, according to the author, is scheduled for 2010). And you thought things couldn't get any better.
Simply put, you aren't a fan of exploitation/horror if you don't have this book in your library.

Excellent recipes This was a great book for my wife and I who have eaten out at restaurants easily 10% of the time now that we have a grill and this book. An excellent investment, that makes the weekends even more fun than I thought they could be. I recommend this!

A Wonderful Travel Guide! I love to travel and do interesting things. I just picked up Immersion Travel USA--what a well written, well-researched book. There is something for everyone--and every trip and activity suggested is more different and unique than the next.
