Fun, when it works My son got the new V smile for Christmas last year with a variety of games to go with it. He has loved it from the first day. I on the other hand am not so keen on it. First of all, if you have a newer television (particularly a big screen) the V smile cannot be hooked up to it because the graphics are not made for that type of output. Problem 1. The next problem is that it gets hot and stops working or just refuses to turn on at all. Problem 2. So subsequently, about half the time my son wants to use his Vsmile it will not work. I have decided to chuck it and sell all the cartridges and get him a Leapster.

Not only does this option keep kids in one place and allow them to learn and play using a larger screen, but it also makes it easier for them to share the in the fun with friends and siblings -- even parents.

My kid loves it! We purchased the home system for my 4 year old for Christmas. The graphics kind of stink but heck we're talking about a little kids game. Some of the games are pretty good, some of them kind of stink, that's a process of elimination. My problem was that my daughter didn't take well to the joysticks. She didn't really like playing it. We also received a v smile pocket for Christmas from a relative. That was much better, It costs about $20 or $30 more, but it seems to be easier to play, my daughter took right to it and it also has the video jacks that plug it into the tv, so my daughter plugs it in and plays it on the tv all the time. There really was no purpose in keeping 2 machines that played the same cartridges and that both played on the tvso we sold the home system to a friend for $30, we'd never even really used it much. I'd suggest getting this pocket version. It's easier to play than the home one, even for a young child and we liked that it has the button in the back to flip the buttons around for right handed or left handed kids, that was cool. And of course it goes in the car too, which is a plus. A lot of people complained about them not working but I didn't have the home version long enough to know, I haven't had any trouble with the pocket version in the six months I've had it and she plays it quite a bit but then I really make her take good care of her things and some kids can be really rough...

Cars game is well liked by my 3 year old I wrote this review because I did not think this game should be rated so low. My son picks Cars to play everytime we get Vsmile out. I like it because he is able to drive a car onthe road with out the difficulty of bigger systems or arcade games. He is learning while he is playing, too.

Editorial ReviewDora the Explorer, everyone’s favorite bilingual adventurer is here to help young children learn a variety of skills and concepts. With the help of Boots, her monkey sidekick, Dora teaches colors, shapes, numbers, animals, spatial skills, and problem solving. This Dora Smartridge is compatible with the V-Tech V-Smile system. In an informal test, we found the Dora games to be both challenging and entertaining for kids, particularly a game where the player must line up shapes in order to cross a bridge and one where they must follow a sequence of numbers in order to find a path across a river. --Charlie Williams

Not bad! I bought this for my 5yo daughter. It's actually one of the better Dora games I've seen. Runs very similarly to the television show. Offers a little bit more Spanish than the show does. It's probably a tad on the 'easy' side for its age group though as my daughter didn't find it particularly difficult, but that didn't phase her interest any. It's now become one of her favorites V Smile games!

Editorial Review Engaging, expandable, and fun, the V.Smile Baby Infant Development System connects your child to a world of interactive learning. A colorful activity panel lined with a soft bumper is baby’s touchable playcenter, filled with colorful shapes, a rolling ball, and jumbo button. Play-Alone mode allows baby to explore the sounds and activities on the panel, or plug the console into the television and the panel connects wirelessly to interact with the animated learning environment they see on the screen. Designed for children from nine to 36 months old, V.Smile Baby teaches numbers, shapes, music, colors, animals--even baby sign language--all with the help of engaging Smartridges like the one included (others are sold separately). Three activity modes allow the system to grow, as parents and children find age-appropriate play. Measuring approximately 8 by 14 by 2-1/2 inches, the wireless panel proves perfectly lap-worthy, although we wish it included a handle for the inevitable toting around by toddlers. --Heather Lyndon

Great toy for a toddler We bought this for our daughter for Christmas last year and she LOVES it. She has learned a lot from the games and now can play the games independently and she picks which game she wants to play and puts it in by herself (she's 22 months old now).
This is a wonderful and educational game for any infant/toddler.
