Rock Band for the Wii -- In the Name of Rock and Roll I love my Rock Band for my Wii. I landed it for my birthday this past summer. It was the only item I had on my wish list at the time. I'm 39 years old, and love this game.
This game really brings out the fun and functionality of the Wii. You can sing, play drums, bass guitar, lead guitar until your hearts content. I love the components of this set.
The drum set, featuring Rock Band drumsticks, is the coolest drumkit I have ever played. I set it up for the first time on the night of my birthday, and felt like my name was Peter Criss from Kiss.
The guitar controller far outranks the Guitar Hero controller. It looks, feels and sounds like a real Fender Stratocaster. Sure it has the same set of buttons the Guitar Hero controller does, but baby, that other set of buttons is the real difference maker. The other set of buttons I'm referring to is the solo set. When the time comes down to getting in a real hot solo, or a big rock ending, just let loose on the solo buttons. Also you never need to insert a remote into this puppy.
The microphone brings out the vocalist in me. I have it on a real cool mic stand. Of course it needs a wireless mic holder, but that's a minor thing. Hearing my voice amplified through my home theater system in 5.1 surround is better than any studio setup.
As far as the interface goes, the USB hookup is awesome. The tutorials are really great. On a whole, if you're a musician like me, or have a real band to play with, get your hand on Rock Band.

Great game, shoddy peripherals Rock band is really fun, my friends and i play for hours and hours, but the guitars and drums are really low quality. the plastic drum pedal snapped after only a week, the first guitar i got just plain stopped working after about 20 minutes of gameplay, and the whammy bar on the second guitar broke after just a few weeks.
i'm sure the equipment would be just fine under a gentle touch, but a game called rock band should be prepared for something a little more intense. EA games will replace any broken equipment, but you have to wait for them to send you a box, then wait for your broken equipment to get to them, then wait for them to send you a new one, meanwhile you only have half a game.
I don't know what anyone can do about it though, just be aware that the stuff is fragile, and try not to let it ruin a great game.

Buy the Bundle I made the mistake of buying just the game and drums since I have 2 GH3 guitars and 2 mics (from Boogie and Idol). You need to have everything Rock Band specific to get it to work correctly. Don't make the same mistake that I did! The game is fun to play, but you'll end up spending a lot more money!
Bring the entire band together with an additional Wii Drum set / Standalone hardware to custom tailor your solo experience

Rock Band Drum Set The game itself is ridiculously fun. The drum kit pedal needs to be reinforced however. After a few weeks of stomping, it will crack. There are plenty of aftermarket metal replacements for this problem. The new drum kit is rumored to have a metal foot pedal.
I look forward to the Rock Band 2 kit and to the Guitar Hero World Tour kit as I use this every day. I'm completely addicted.
