Darker,scarier,better! Untamed is simply impossible to put down,I can easily say it's the best installment of the series.Great suspense,magical tales of the Native American people,friendship,romance,horror all in the same book.
But I have to state this,Untamed is not like the previous 3 books.It's so much darker,scarier,disturbing and better.I can't wait for Hunted in March!

I was forced to by this book due to class requirements... This book is full of redundant sentences. If it wasn't for all the poor writing and organization, it would be about 15 pages long. I have considered burning this book on the writers front door step! Or just boinking her on the head with it. Please buy any other book except this one. I suggest A+ Cert guide by Michael Myers, It rocks.

Mediocre writing, somewhat engaging plot This is the 2nd book in the House of Night series by the Casts. It follows in the same vein as the 1st book. The writing is mediocre but the plot is fairly engrossing.
Zoey has only been at the House of Night for a little while yet she is taking over the most prestigious group in the school; the Dark Daughters and Sons. While she struggles to figure out how to make this group a positive one, she is still being haunted by vampire ghosts. She is starting to think things are not what they seem and something deeper and darker may be happening at school. Then there is her ex-boyfriend Heath to deal with and a super-hottie vampirethat seems to have an attraction to Zoey; of course she is supposedly dating the drop-dead fledgling Erik, but how is Zoey to deal with all the love problems and the more life threatening ones?
This book just isn't written that well, and neither was the previous one. There is lots of teenage drama and a fair amount of action. Despite the poor writing the story is engaging and interesting to read. I really find myself wondering what will happen to Zoey next. Some of the drama with her boyfriends gets bit old and some of the plot is pretty predictable. Still, it kept my attention so I guess it must be an okay book.
Will I read the next one? Again, maybe if I can find it somewhere for cheap, used.

Great starting lab manual. I found the manual to cover the basics of computer repair and maintenance. I would not purchase this manual without the textbook. Not for kids Let me just start by saying that I have read all the House of Night books, and that I really like this series.
However while searching for a book for my 9 yr old son this book popped up, now while this book is fine for perhaps ages 15, 16 and up defiantly not for the 9 - 12 year range.

This is an odd book This is an odd book. He seems to talk out of both sides of his mouth: he tells you to use good ergonomic habits on one page, and on the next one to change the height of your chair, keyboard, etc., frequently so that you're not always "in the box" that makes everything be at the "right" angle. A good editor might have improved this book substantially.
What's best about this book is the inclusion of a couple of simple exercises that you can do almost anywhere, whenever you have a few minutes. I'd check this one out from the library rather than buying a copy for myself.
I might recommend his plain-vanilla "Pain-Free" book for most people instead. Add a Review

I am a Fan of this book, but .... I am a machine control technical person where my main focus is not on PCs, but I sometimes have to work on PCs as they are often associated with machine control systems. Over a year ago my 2003 vintage OEM PC motherboard stopped working. I felt I was ready to put together my first PC using as much of the previous PC components as possible. Based upon the advice of a friend I purchased a copy of the 13th edition as it was written in the time frame of my PC. The book was extremely helpful as it put a spot light on a lot of "fuzzy" knowledge I had gained over the years, or had heard talked about. I ended up reading the majority of the book. Anything in the book that applied to my situation at home or at work I read about and I felt filled to the brim with the information I gathered from the book.
Recently, my wife's PC motherboard stopped working. I gave her my 2003 vintage PC and started work on building a brand new PC for me. The first action I took was to purchase the 18th edition of Upgrading and Repairing PCs. When I progressed with trying to determine my future PC components and needed to understand questions of SATA & Multi-Core theory & PCI Express 1 PCI Express 2 & CPU comparisons & knowledge on the latest System memory RAM, I went straight to the 18th edition book. But I just did not feel like I got the warm feeling inside which knowledge and understanding gives you. Compared to what I got out of the 13th edition (which was appropriate to my vintage of PC) to what I got out of the 18th edition (which was appropriate to the build of my newest PC), I felt like the authors have not been on top of "updating" the "upgrading" book.
So with hopefulness, I attempted to go to the author's website. upgradingandrepairingpcs. com and found it led me to another website called informit. com. It appears the author has banded with a group of other technical people to share their knowledge and expertise on this informit website & buying the 18th edition book allows free access to a lot of this web site. But this website was not satisfying for a person with a specific problem or question who is trying to link up with an answer. I ended up gathering a lot of my knowledge and understanding from the multitude of technical websites available on the internet. Including information on what a person has to do to repair Windows XP in order to use a hard drive from a broken PC on a different hardware platform. I would have thought that situation would be very common for "Upgrading and Repairing" a PC.
With that all said, I am giving the book 4 stars and I really wanted to be able to give the book 5 stars. The author is very good at explaining things in just the right manner. The knowledge & understanding I have gained from the books was well worth the full retail price for one book and made me a groupie of the book. But the next time I have to build a new PC in a few years, I won't be buying the latest edition without making sure it has been given a healthy dose of updating.

I hand out copies all the time This and its companion "The Mac is not a Typewriter" are so important to everyone who writes a letter, types an e-mail, designs a sign, or creates a presentation. In short easy to understand lessons disguised as chapters, the reader learns everything that was lost when computers replaced typesetters. Though most Macintosh users are professional designers, they won't need this book, but for the millions of PC users out there, this is irreplaceable. I keep four or five copies of this book in my desk. Anyone I find that is breaking these rules and willing to learn how to make their published documents better, I hand them this book to read first. Don't try tolearn it all at once. Read a couple chapters and master those skills, then read the next couple chapters. This book sits next to my dictionary and MLA Style Guide on my desk for ready reference. Add a Review
